My Melda plugins work just fine in Mixbus. I just put Mautodynamiceq through a gauntlet and it performed perfectly.

What's everyone's workflow look like with Mixbus (those of you who also use Sonar)? Are you doing most of the mixing in Sonar and then exporting all stems to Mixbus for the console sound? If so, are you creating all of your sends (reverb, delays etc) in Sonar and exporting those stems to Mixbus too? Or are you recreating those sends in Mixbus?

And how are you using your Mixbus busses? I'm thinking one for reverbs, one for other effect sends, one for vocals, one for drums, one for bass and another for instruments? Not really sure how I should be going about it.

Also I should state that IMO certain types of music may not be well suited for MB3. 
 
Extreme rock (i.e. metal etc.) may not get much benefit from MB3, as well EDM may not. But since I don't do EDM I may be off the mark there.

Interesting questions. I have so little experience with Mixbus what I say is subject to change. 
 
My first use was an import from a Sonar export wav file. I was very impressed by what I heard through headphones. Next I used two stems so I could play with busing. I was not as impressed though the sound was very good. This time with speakers. In between I had some crashes with Mixbus but I was not perturbed by them.
 
Lastly I exported an entire song as individual tracks. Again the sound in Mixbus is darn right good. I am unsure which has a better sound, Sonar or Mixbus.   It may be that they are both very good but different. 
 
Edit to add, I find the look of Mixbus 3 great. It grows on you.

I have a song that I unfortunately cannot share (NDA in force) that is an indie pop thing. Not my song so I am unbiased as to what I wanted out of it. I gave it my best effort in both SONAR (using Waves, UAD and LX480. Slate FG-X was on the master bus) and then in mixbus using MB plugs + LX480. 
 
To my ears, MIxus 3 won this round.
 
Back in the MB2.5 days I did almost the same thing with a CHB song where I simply stripped all plugs in both SONAR and MB2.5 and only attempted to set levels identical.
 
When I A/B the two raw mixes (no plugs used in either DAW) MB2.5 won by a slight margin as I felt the result was a bit more transparent and clearer. Not by much mind you but just enough to say "hmmmm, I like that better".
 

The first tracks I heard with it, were compared/vs to ___? and Sonar, and I had a very similar response. It was subtle perhaps, but I definitely knew I liked MB2.5 better. It was more "real" somehow, and that prompted me to buy it and update to version 3.

You'd be surprised how much EDM (and electronica in general) ends up through an analog desk and/or analog and tape emulations. When you have a mix full of pristine digital synths it can get a little bit sterile sounding.
