OK, I was able to rollback to the last build. CCleaner is back. Had to uninstall and reinstall Norton 360 but it is up and working again. I'll have to check everything else. I hate it that I used another activation for AD2 for no good reason. I just hope I don't have to do it again now...
Of to check firewall and services, notifications, and other stuff MS is messing with.
I'll be looking for a MacBook after Christmas. I've had it with Windows. I'll keep Windows on my DAW. Going to make a disk image of it with W-8.1 and then upgrade to 10. It stays offline most of the time so if it gives me any trouble, I'll just restore it to W-8.1 with a clone.
I've just had it. Actually, I don't remember the last time Norton prompted me to scan or the last time it updated. It may not have been working since July.. I just don't know. It is scanning now. Thankfully I have Malwarebytes Premium. It stops a lot of stuff.
Bottom line, this is NOT OK. I don't know why MS has become so arrogant.
Question? Will Sonar run on a Mac somehow? If not, no problem. I hardly ever do anything with Sonar on my laptop anyway. I can just use Logic and then use Dropbox to move to Sonar if I do anything with a MacBook.
I hope MS is happy... I'll now be a half user. A minimal user and if they mess up my DAW. I'll stick with 8.1 until I have to go completely Mac. Hopefully Apple will see an opportunity here and make it easy to run a good shell program on a Mac for Windows programs. I think the more MS aggravates people the bigger the opportunity will be for Apple to fill the void... in MS. If you get my meaning.
I've been up since 6:00 AM and have spent most of the morning dealing with this because of this Windows update. I have no idea how much longer I'll have to spend checking things.
Is it no longer true... "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? What is MS thinking? What is the possible endgame here? Make all the users mad? Do they want a smaller user base? There must be a strategy, some goal.. but I certainly am not sure what it is. Another old saying that DOES see to still be true, "there is no free lunch"! I came in to this with my eyes wide shut. I should have known that free would have a bunch of strings attached. I am NOT happy with MS or Windows-10. At the same time I like the speed of W-10 but I don't like EDGE, od MAIL. I REALLY don't like MS right now.. and I do not trust them at all.
Kenny, please let me know about Linux. I know nothing about it other that I know it's an OS. Will Sonar and VSTs run on it? Is it secure? Is it easy to use? I'm interested. I guess I'll Google it in the mean time.
