Just for arguments sake there batsbrew:

I bought EZ 1 a while ago during a sale, which gave me an option to upgrade to SD 2 for just $79.00. Then I could use my EZ 1 libraries with it of course.

I could have then considered spending on the upgrade to EZ 2, but instead thanks to 'c'redit 'c'ard Larry's posts here, I purchased BFD2 with 'Greatest Hits Volume 1' all for $120.00 on KVR.

I've since added the NEIL PEART drum collection from the Snakes and Arrows tour to BFD2 for $49.00 on sale to use with my V-drum set up.

Now clearly with SD 2 and BFD2, I have no need or temptation to upgrade EZ 1 to 2.

So, for about the same price, consider what else in upgrades you may be able to find out there instead there bats.

Just something to consider as an alternative option...

The ONE THING the EZ2 has that is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the upgrade, and that none of the
others have, is The Song Creator.  That alone is worth the upgrade price.  It will literally create and
ENTIRE SONG based on the criteria you give it.  And you just edit it to your liking.  It's pretty slick
and I'm hoping that that feature makes it's way into SD3....

That is the only reason I've considered upgrading. I just have a hard time paying the $99 like Bats. If Toontrack offered a bit of a discount even to around $70 or so, I would have bought it.

$71.99 is as close as I can get you at AudioDeluxe

Add to cart and use code OCT2015 for that price...

Don't forget the 'Tap to find' feature. If your going to use midi for your project, 'Tap to find' can save hours. I also like the adaptive groove feature...or whatever it's called. You can also right click on a drum or piece and turn it down without going to the mixer, adjust velocity without the piano roll...and of course, once your done. Drag the midi to which ever program you want. It's a very nice program.

SD2 upgrade from EZD for $79.00. Wow, I hope to see that again. I think the search function in EZD2 is a big deal too. Either play in a beat or drag in a midi file and it will find other mid for you and show you how close to your original it is. And an update in March made the search function work with your other midi like Groove Monkey, LoopLoft, Odd Grooves.

For a non-drum-centric person like myself, I find the Song Creator in EZD2 to be nothing short of Fawesome.

It's not like you're stuck with what it spits out ... what SC gives you is a quick, very usable drum track that can then be tweaked - within the tweak-ability that EZD2 supports, of course.

Not affiliated.  Just very happy with EZD2/SC.

It is really great to get the basic structure, then change what you want. For me, nothing makes an idea turn into a song more that getting the basic frame or structure down. How many bars in the chorus and the like.

Superior Drummer is better that EZDrummer 2 in many aspects. Assuming as a Superior user you prefer to tweak your own sounds, rather than use the pre-sets the song builder, tap to find and pattern search features would be the reason main reason to upgrade. If you don't use the MIDI grooves the advantages of these features is marginal, but if you do it’s a big step forward. You also get the new kits, which are nice but probably not worth the upgrade cost if you dont want the other new features.

Ideally I would like to see the tap to find and search features in Superior Drummer 3 (whenever that may be.) That would make EZDrummer superfluous for me.
