Superior Drummer is better that EZDrummer 2 in many aspects. Assuming as a Superior user you prefer to tweak your own sounds, rather than use the pre-sets the song builder, tap to find and pattern search features would be the reason main reason to upgrade. If you don't use the MIDI grooves the advantages of these features is marginal, but if you do it’s a big step forward. You also get the new kits, which are nice but probably not worth the upgrade cost if you dont want the other new features.

Ideally I would like to see the tap to find and search features in Superior Drummer 3 (whenever that may be.) That would make EZDrummer superfluous for me.

Gyln, I believe you are correct on all your points. I guess I can't see how Toontrack could not include these features in SD3. How could they have the technology and not include it in their flagship drum sampler? Other companies have done dumber things but I have faith in Toontrack.

well, the SD2 does not have anything like the tap to find, or song creator...

so i could see maybe starting out demos using these two things,
and then migrating to a superior set,
so you can output all the individual mics like i do.....
and then mix them old school.

The ONE THING the EZ2 has that is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the upgrade, and that none of the
others have, is The Song Creator.  That alone is worth the upgrade price.  It will literally create and
ENTIRE SONG based on the criteria you give it.  And you just edit it to your liking.  It's pretty slick
and I'm hoping that that feature makes it's way into SD3....

That is the only reason I've considered upgrading. I just have a hard time paying the $99 like Bats. If Toontrack offered a bit of a discount even to around $70 or so, I would have bought it.

Darnit Larry! You had to find that huh! Well, Audiodeluxe charges me taxes since it's (figuratively) right down the road from me, so it'll be about $79 with tax included. Now if JRRshop had it at that price...

If you find a Superior Drummer upgrade from EZD2 in that price range, let me know. I would be all over that like Fleer on a bowl of Fruity Pebbles.

The prospect of a new version of SD is what is causing me to wait to upgrade to anything. I was looking pretty close at BFD3, but if Toontrack would merge the superior features of EZD2 with the superior samples of SD2.0. I think I would be very happy for a long time.

When you consider that Superior Drummer 2 was released in 2008...
and it's now been 7 years...I think the SD 3 upgrade is LOOOOONG
overdue...they must be following IK's SampeTank development cycle...
