Well, I just got permanently banned from the PreSonus forums.

For a post in a thread of AudioBox VSL owners complaining about the product being unceremoniously dropped from support, with tons of existing bugs and complaints. And I even stated how I repurposed my 44VSL and was getting beneficial use from it.

OK, so I also mentioned that I dumped S1 for SPlat and Notion for Forte because I was getting NO support for the issues/bugs I raised for all three products. Never got a response from PreSonus on a single issue.

I have spent a LOT of money on PreSonus products. I'll keep using the the 44VSL until I can afford to replace it (solely out of spite).

What a terrible lack of customer focus.

The good news? I'll have a LOT more hard drive space available when I get done deleting ALL of my PreSonus content.

Well that's sad to hear :( But as you would know I'm sure, You are never banned permanently from anywhere.

And that's a bit of a silly reason to go deleting stuff, stuff you obviously liked and used, and yeah I know while the blood is boiling they are the worst company with the worst products etc etc , but hey, they weren't just a day or so ago ? But you must do what you must do.

I've been upset with them since last spring. I uninstalled S1 when S1 v3 came out and switched to SPlat. I struggled with Notion until I had a reasonable alternative. And I wasted dozens of hours of time chasing down what turned out to be bugs in their code, not problems inherent to my system. In the 12+ months I tried to get their products working on my pretty basic Dell PC, I got ZERO support from them, not even a courtesy, automated email.

I spent my consulting career teaching customer focus and service and product quality to Fortune 500 companies all over the world. Maybe that's made me more picky (and prickly) when it comes to such things.

Compare the Cakewalk and PreSonus forums, and the kinds of posts that show up.

Cakewalk employees show up on this forum when appropriate. Not a single PreSonus employee ever made a post the I saw. They leave the forum to their moderators. Poor bastidges. Except for the one nice guy I got completely tired of, the one who continues to post the "have you optimized your PC for audio?" responses to every single new complaint that shows up. I saw that identical post dozens of times.

Making a commitment to a full-blown DAW is expensive. I want support for my money. I demand support for my money.

I get it from Cakewalk. In trumps!

From PreSonus? Doodly squat.

All I just did was delete all of the installation files and documentation and clean up the registry.

Almost EXACTLY the same thing I did after my divorce. Pictures and mementos of the beatch be gone.

So, don't be sorry for me. Be sorry for PreSonus. Their propensity for dropping at least one existing product for each new one they launch (and, boy, do they love launching new products) does not bode well for their long-term prospects.

Edit: For example, I need a headphone amp. PreSonus make a pretty good one. Will I buy it? No.

Hard luck with the presonus forum maartian. Compared with here that place is like what Kennedy said about Russia  Washington: Northern hospitality and Southern efficiency.

My Presonus support experience with Notion was enough for me.  I uninstalled S1 2, Notion and Progression a few days ago.  If I can't do what I want to do with Sonar, Reaper, BiaB and MuseScore, then I should prolly quit trying ;)

And Tascam.  Love my 16x08

Yes the forums are a completely different beast, totally different feel, and I guess if you have issues, you need to use them. Lucky for me I have no issues, so it doesn't bother me one way or the other. I wouldn't let a companies attitude, business practices, forums whatever influence my decision on whether or not I use or buy their products, if it is something I like and want, and it works well, the other stuff makes no difference to me, I'm there for the products, not for the company. However if I was have issues with software or hardware whatever I would kiss them goodbye quickly. Best of luck, oh . . . those headphone amps they make are nice, I have a couple of them . . . so that's a shame if you were set on them. Just be careful you're not cutting off your nose to spite your face and of course there are plenty others out there probably even better, so . . .

I would.

I'm the exact other way around.

I WILL do without something I can truly use, like and benefit from just as a form of protest if and when a company 'gets to me'.

As for Presonus, I have one of their mixers and I have Studio One 2 all the way up to 2.6, but haven't upgraded any further than that and don't use it now due to their continually ignoring us MIDI users requests and petitions.
But when I was on their forums and using their DAW about 3-4 years ago, their company was known to be stellar.
I even had one of their company head-honchos trade emails with me and even bent the rules for me at his sole discretion.

I hope that this is just an isolated incident and that things haven't changed too much.

But perhaps since they've moved into that shiny new building, they've grown 'too big for their own britches'.

I am still using their FirePod (the original 8 channel firewire interface).  It still works in Win 7.  I do not plan to upgrade unless I have to... I have only been a lurker on their forum, but it is not even close to the Cake forum.  Interactions between users are few and virtually no one from Presonus is there...

That being said, when I DO make my leap from the firepod, I am thinking it is time to switch interfaces too since most computers do not have firewire anymore.  I am thinking USB (2 or 3)?

I must have come close to the mark with some of the 'rants' I've posted over there in the past.
The issue for me is that while their hardware is fantastic, most of it relies on firmware that isn't...  The main problem being releasing firmware that does just enough for a new product to work but without providing many (or even most) of the features that would make the product useful (or even usable in some cases).

Of course, all those extra features are "in development" and are due to be available "soon".  Meanwhile they release something else which makes the original product either redundant or unusable.
Somebody in middle management responsible for the development direction needs a serious talking to...

It's a shame, because their hardware (when it works as intended) is very good.

I like my Faderport, but I've never needed any support from them.
