I think the bottom line is these companies want you to buy the new product. Somewhere along the line they loose sight of support since it doesn't generate income. I say "these companies" because there are quite a few out there pushing new hardware constantly. They base their survival on new product revenue. If you happen to be Gibson you sell a product that is timeless and doesn't necessarily need a huge revision to keep going.

Look at Nord...they keep a fairly consistent well made product on the market. Yes they make changes, but not often and not radical. They make a great product.

I was drooling over the 88 key controller from NI, but decided to wait given their history...great software, iffy hardware support.

I've received great support from Presonus on the hardware end of things, my needs have been fairly simple though. Luckily I never had software issues with them. Not sure, could have been banned for promoting Sonar over there? We seem a bit more liberal over here since we have a few regular Studio One users who still come over and still use Sonar and they say what they like and what they don't like. If it was habitual and considered an attack of some kind, then I'm sure one of the mods would take action on that. Sorry to hear about that.

We have one or two who were banned from here and went over there. One of them was great entertainment and I hated to see him go :)

I have seen end users leave Cakewalk and Presonus with solid reasons from their experience and POV.

I don't fault anyone who has tried through support (not just through the forums) to resolve their hardware/software issues but just can't get the problem fixed.

My setup is so darn simple that I don't have issues these days with either Sonar or Studio One software so I am not in the same boat as someone who has invested a lot in hardware.

My point being there are issues in both camps and probably always will be. It really is in the best interest of any manufacturer to invest in their product support regardless.

In my old age I find product support to be far more important than athletic support.

Oh wait, am I in the right thread?

The USB powers the lights.

Well, there you go I assumed it was the AC adapter.

I will troubleshoot that tonight when I get home.

Thanks for the help.

You're welcome. Hope it helps.

Well, I must have a faulty unit (motor?). Power adapter is putting out 13.1V. Moving a fader in the console view does NOT change the FP fader. As stated using the fader to write automation does work FWIW.

Ordered this on Amazon. Guess I now have to go back to orig shipper. Any other thoughts before I go that route?

Look in preferences and see if channel aftertouch and key aftertouch are enabled.

That was it. I had 1.3.5 installed and I found 1.2. Neither worked.

1.3.8 finally worked.

Thanks ever so much.
