  • Question for any Maschine 2 (especially Mikro) owners....

Recently, after adding several new plugins and libraries during the BF and CM sales I noticed that Sonar was having a problem scanning my Maschine Mikro which was updated with Maschine 2 software a while back.  I checked in my Plugin Manager and saw that Maschine and Maschine FX were both showing up but Maschine 2 was greyed out.  I then updated to the latest version of Maschine 2 via NI's updater but still no love.  If I run Maschine in standalone it's the latest, greatest version...but if I open up Maschine in SPLAT it's the old version.  Even tried using NI's VST tool but that didn't find it or fix it either.  So....

Anyone have any knowledge of this situation and how to fix it?  Or anyone willing to send me a Maschine 2 .dll file to see if that will??

Any info will be sincerely appreciated.

Once I get home in a couple of hrs., I can check this Olpal......looks very odd that only the older versions are showing up.
I wonder if anything needs to be enabled or changed in Plugin Mgr./plugin properties.....just guessing here...will confirm once I take a look.

Turns out it's even screwier.  What happened somehow is that the 32bit Maschine 2 dll file got into the 64bit vst folder.  It wasn't greyed out...it was "32bit green".  And the 64bit Mascine 2 dll file no longer exists on my maschine anywhere.  So what's happening now is that in standalone mode Maschine 2 runs fine and is the latest version.  In 64bit VST mode as a plug in Sonar I get Maschine 1...older version, but still 64bit.  I've put in a support ticket at NI so, unless someone sends me a 64bit dll Maschine 2 file, that I'll probably have the problem solved by sometime next year...if past NI support is any indication.  Sheesh.

Welp...on the way home from the studio this evening I think I figured out what has happened. It's actually a case of fool me once/fool me twice as I remember this happened once before and our ol pal Larry was kind enough to forward me the missing dll files...which worked back then. But now I know what caused this. And it's not just Maschine...its every single NI instrument I updated this morning.

My internet connect is so slow at the studio I let it run overnight to download the couple of gigs worth of updates using NI's service center. When I got to work everything was downloaded, each with an "install" button beside them. Which I clicked, one after the other, letting them install.

That's the problem. If you don't choose to manually install you don't get an option to select your VST path and the installer puts all the (now removed) dll files in the wrong location...or nowhere at all as their are no dll files of any of the missing instruments where NI says they default to either.

What I suspect I'll have to do is figure out what all instruments are screwed, redownload all those updates...this time directly from my account at NI...and at home where I've got good internet speed...and then take all the zip files to the studio...unzip and manually install each one telling the installer where to correctly put the dll files. What a pain.

So....if any of you great fellers or gals are thinking of updating your NI instruments using the Service Center AND you keep your VSTs in a proprietary folder DO NOT let the Service Center install them...do it manually!

I have had that happen but only when I installed from Service Center after the download. I install from the downloaded file and it hasn't happened again. Cant think of why but it happened. Must be when you install from the file it shows you the location choices and when clicking install from downloaded file it prob puts them in VST not Cakewalk>VST. Anyway, hope you get it fixed fast.

Try installing from folders you downloaded before downloading again.

That's another insidious thing the Service Center does when it self installs. It "vanishes" the Installer ZIP files after extraction...maybe even deletes them.

But I'll look in the morning to see if I can find them somewhere on the drives.

BTW...next to Ernest T. Bass, Junior is my most beloved joy.

There's a check box in Service Centre that tells it to delete the installer after installation. Just uncheck it.
