Hi,

I've got a new song out. It's called "yibaiyishiyi" - you can check it out here:
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12589955

This means 111 in Mandarin (literally "one hundred one ten one"). I was trying to learn a few words of Chinese before my trip this year - and I just like the sound of this ;-)

There is a "companion piece" called "yibaiyishiyi-reprise"
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=12589956

It is a rethink (alternate version) of the end part of yibaiyishiyi.

Both were started in SONAR X2 - but finished in X3.

As usual, let me know what you think...

Nice job.... I like it. I was expecting something with more of a chi-com sound. But this works. It does tend to get a bit long.... Instrumentals really should be short unless new and interesting things are being introduced into the song to keep it interesting. That was the secret to the classical works.

I understand that Chinese is one of the harder languages to learn since the same word can mean several different things based solely on the inflection used. I have learned enough Spanish to talk myself into trouble but not out of it.....

Thanks for listening guitarhacker. You're right - Chinese is all about pronunciation. I didn't have time to learn more than a dozen words - but I wanted to make th eeffort to learn *something* - as people do appreciate it ;-)

Yo hablo español también - me gusta ir a España para practicar...

I like this one, John.  Your guitar tone and mix are very good sounding on my speakers.  She-she.

Thanks a lot for listening Lynn - and for your comments. I think I'm the one who's supposed to say xiaxia ;-)

A bit different for my ears, especially the beginning and all the scratching, but creativity these days is always something to behold and learn from. I liked the guitar work and sounds and the drums fit nicely. This is a very different kind of vibe for sure. Are you going to visit the Gibson Guitar Plant while in China? You might be able to get a great deal there on a nice Chinese made Gibson!! Well. alright then the song is over and I'm still hearing it. Did you use hypnotics in this song? I'm still hearing it!! Fun stuff!!

Peace and Blessings, John

Hi guitarplayer - thanks a lot for listening. Yes, I used a special hypnotic technique, which inserts the song in to your brain. U can't tell you any more than this though ;-)

I was in China in august - Beijing 1 week and Dalian 1 week. I didn't know Gibson has a plant there, but it's too late now anyway ;-)

Both tracks are interesting, perhaps i prefer the second slightly more as there is a little more happening, as noted by Herb this helps the listenability of instrumental music.

My only minor observation the snare a bit prominent but it is all down to personal taste.

Thanks for sharing.
