Yep...I don't use notation much..but it seems to do a very good job.
I also bought Progression when it was $5...just never know when something
like that might come in handy...

I kinda like Progression, and even Notion, although I'm not that much into notes anymore
Also, Notion is the only one with a perfectly integrated tablet app.

I d/l'd the free Basic, used it for a day, and upgraded to Home for $74. A bargain. I've gotten more done with FORTE in a week than I ever did with Notion. Glad I switched. If you've ever used the Ribbon menus in Microsoft Office and now many others, you'll find FORTE easy to navigate.

I haven't figured out efficient drum notation entry yet, and I've found one bug (by doing something dumb, of course ), but I really like program. I'm currently working on transcribing ELP's version of Peter Gunn from their Works Live album. Coming together nicely...as soon as I figure out the drum entry.

Good, responsive devs. Recommended.

If PreSonus picked up Notion (both of which I've abandoned), how about Gibson/Cakewalk picking up FORTE and giving us a tight integration a la Melodyne? Just a thought. Hint. Hint.

Maartian - How does Forte compare to MuseScore?

Maartian - How does Forte compare to MuseScore?

I haven't used MuseScore, so I can't answer that question. Sorry. But what I can point out is a FORTE feature called the "Music Ruler" used for note entry. Note/text/accent input starts around 2:30 in the video. The Music Ruler starts around 3:50. SO much easier for me than Notion.

I've found a couple of bugs that I need to report (Trouble With Triplets (sorry, Star Trek fans ), specifically, entering quarter-note triplets, and Note Insertion (when the insert cursor is leaning left of the Music Ruler box, the insert will occur in the previous measure, not in the first position of the measure indicated by the Music Ruler). The first one, I'll have to fix in SONAR when I bring the MIDI in. The second only requires proper location of the cursor as a work-around. Neither of these issues will send me back to Notion.

You should really check out MuseScore ...
