Hey that is cool.... ^^^^^  As you get more comfortable with Sonar X, there is absolutely no reason you can not use the full functioning of X2 to add strings and other instruments to the mix to enhance it and the FX as well.

Take your time, post more music here and get feedback from the folks here. You can learn quite a bit as many people here have good ears, know what they're doing, and are willing to help and share advice and knowledge with anyone willing to listen. We have folks here all the way from beginners to highly talented professional musicians & recording engineers....

Many here share your frustration with the business and drama of live gigging. (me for one) With Sonar, you can record your music at you convenience, put together a CD and let the folks who like that genre and style of music hear it. Internet has changed music in a huge way, as has the availability of quality home recording gear.

Welcome to our diverse and crazy  family.

Sandra, This is a very nice song with  story, well sung, piano well played and a very solid mix. Sounds great.

Peace and Blessings, John

Quote [I would like other people to sing my songs.] Quote
Since they changed the format in this forum I no longer know how to properly add a quote.

I really like your vocals. Quite frankly I think you're extremely skilled in your vocal performances.
Nothing wrong with having other people sing your songs but don't underestimate your own skill as well. I'd love to be able to sing like you.

As far as recording and mixing to sound as though it is a live performance....you nailed it perfectly.

It would be interesting to hear you write and produce a song with a full orchestra behind you. Kind of a Gershwin's Porgy and Bess type of production, or perhaps A Chorus Line type of production. I think you would really enjoy having a full orchestra at your fingertips, which is exactly what you have with Cakewalk software. The softsynths that come with the Cakewalk programs are pretty good but as you gain more experience with it you'll probably want to upgrade to Garritan Personal Orchestra or some of the other available sound banks that have a more realistic sound to them. Some real fun lies ahead for you.

The Band19
It's a pretty song, but it's a question of height vs. weight? If the numbers are not favorable, then the odds are less favorable.  And I don't mean this in a negative way at all, It's more a statement of fact. If one can realize that, and take steps to adjust things in their favor, they are much more likely to meet their goals/objectives. Good luck, I hope you achieve everything you hope for.

"Men are pigs... We look up there? Then we look down there... And we make judgments very quickly based on these observations."  The good news is, we can all control what people see when they look here, or there? So in the end, people see exactly what you want them to see.

Want them to see the best you can be? And the world will beat a path to your door.

Down Robbie!  Stop trying to scare off the nice new members!  Let's keep this about the music, please.

Sandra, please ignore Robbie (The Band19).  He's not had his medication today.  Or perhaps he's had too much of it...

I like this, kinda timeless, reminds me of something Liza Minelli would sing in 1973.

Hi Folks
I am so pleased you like my song.
It gives me a boost. I know its not for everyone.
I have many more stuffed in a cupboard and I am now rewriting them again.
Just this minute finished another song which I will try and get recorded today and put on soundcloud.
I have looked at the link that one of you guys sent me to listen to Barbara Streisand.
I have never heard her earlier songs but I enjoyed them very much.
My kind of music.
Music is good for the soul. My soul anyway!
Best regards to you all.
Sandra

Welcome, always nice to hear a new music contributor here.

This sounds reasonably well done for a new to SONAR X2 user.  I will keep an eye out for more of your work.

Thanks for sharing.

When I'm hearing this I wonder how this will sound with a string section, a bass and the piano play not following the melody so much. But after a while I think that maybe all these things only will destroy the genuin live theater feeling that I now can see so clearly. Great song and beautifully performed!

I like this very much. You obviously are very talented. I'm glad you discovered Sonar and welcome to the forum. You will be amazed at all of the things you'll be able to do with your music and it's you making the decisions. For example, you could add a little reverb to that piano. I think that would sound nice.

I look forward to hearing more of your contributions. End be sure to check out some of the music by the many talented people here. :-)
