What bennefit is it to have the full version. Would there be any difference in sound or bennefit with the VSTi's (Abbey Road Drums, Alicia Keys etc I already use in the free player?

The biggest benefit, aside from more functionality, is the VAST number of HIGH QUALITY
libraries that require the Full version to function...

And some of the newer library designers state that they're quite happy with K5's new scripting abilities that really opens up options for them to do more with their instruments.
 
Now I'm no techy, so I can't explain just what that means, but this can only be good news.

Thanks Larry. So I should or might get more control options with the sounds I already have which is good. I have had to bypass libraries because they require the full version. Right now I think $200 for the full version is worth it. I'm guessing the libraries that come with the full version are pretty good so Maybe I'll bit on it today.

What do you mean cross grade. What would I cross grade?

I got the full Kontakt. It comes with a number of reasonable instruments. I got it primarily to gain access to products requiring full Kontakt (e.g. some Spitfire, etc.)
 
$199 is the best price right now, and beats the cross grade ($299). At least that was the case for me with the Kontakt instruments I currently own.
 
Re Crossgrade: if you currently own any Kontakt instruments, log into your account and add Kontakt Full to the shopping cart. It will automatically tell if you qualify for any type of "cross grade", i.e. an upgrade from a related Kontakt-based product.

The crossgrade price is usually $249 USD but they have the crossgrade option turned off because of the current sale.
The $199.50 deal is the best right now. Go for it.  :-)
Plus, it is free shipping so no hidden surprise there.
Also, what Allen said about getting access to products that require "full",  including all the free libraries that hobbyists create and make available.
