Vivian Campbell, Vinny Appice, and Jimmy Bain, the band behind the first three Dio albums, together with vocalist Andrew Freeman, have a new album coming out in February 2016. It's called Heavy Crown. They've released a video for the first single called Devil In Me.

The band sounds just as tight as they did when they recorded Holy Diver. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album!

Thank you very much for this, this will be one of the few CD's I will have purchased for a while, the last being Black Sabbaths 13 and ACDC's Rock Or Bust I think. Always been a  Vivian Campbell and Vinny Appice fan.

Looks like my old bandmate (Craig Goldy) is missing out on this!

Hi,

They still sound good ... after all these years!

The cool part for me, is when I listen to the song, vocals aside, it SOUNDS like it could have been included on one of the early Dio albums. Maybe it's a case of reliving my youth to a certain extent. Again, I can't wait to hear the rest of it.

I think that some musicians mature to a point where they embrace their legacy w/o worrying about re-inventing the wheel or making a statement. That renewed sense of fun and the lack of self-consciousness often shines through the music and allow them to recapture the spirit.

Campbell, like Iommi, has battled w/ cancer - I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but both really play like they mean it.

Very nicely said Rain! And from what I've read and seen, they really are enjoying recapturing the chemistry that they shared so long ago. You're right too, they play like they mean it.

Regardless of what kind of music, seeing the musicianship in those situations is always nice. I did not think the vocals were as good as the band, but it was still all good!
