In these weeks of BF sales, there will be dozens of people upgrading/crossgrading their Kontakt 5 to Komplete.

Since Kontakt comes with Komplete, these folks will be dumping their old Kontakt in the KVR marketplace.  I see this pattern every year.

From what I understand, if you upgrade your product  you can't sell the old one or you will lose the upgrade too.

From the NI website registration faq:

"If a product is removed from your user account, this will render all product upgrades invalid which are based on this product. In this case, Registration support will contact you before deleting a product from your user account. For instance, if you upgraded KOMPLETE 8 to KOMPLETE 8 ULTIMATE, you cannot remove KOMPLETE 8 from your account without KOMPLETE 8 ULTIMATE becoming invalid."

Yep, you can't sell what you upgraded from, i.e. what you "used" to upgrade from, nor can you sell individual parts of a bundle.

That's the very info I was looking for.

Makes sense too. Otherwise people could go around in circles selling each other products for upgrade purposes all at a loss to NI.

Thanks fellas.

That applies to just about everything from everyone...

If you upgrade or crossgrade (there are exceptions)
then you can't sell the product it was from...it's only
sensible.  You used the product to get to the new one
and basically forfeited it in favor of the new one...

Yes, I made a boo boo... Sorry about that.  I was thinking of the NI programs not used to crossgrade/upgrade to Komplete.  Those individual licenses can very definitely be sold.

To clarify.... Since Kontakt is the component that many people use to crossgrade (to K/KU), then in most cases it can't be resold.  However, if Kontakt wasn't used -- say, you bought Komplete cheaply another way (maybe secondhand) -- then if you previously owned Kontakt, it can be sold.

I see so many NI software for sale threads where the seller says "I just got Komplete so I'm selling these" that I lumped Kontakt in there, and I wasn't thinking.  Mea Culpa, I'm a doofus.  Doh! and Double Doh!  Truly sorry for the wrong info.

As a punishment, I promise not to buy anything from the BF sales for one whole hour.  I mean it!

No worries Jon.

Meanwhile, looks like you posted this 2 hours ago, so your 'hour' is up.

Happy credit card bashing and [subsequent melting]! Hahaha!
