  • Can anyone give me the skinny on the new WAVES Central thingy... (p.4)

Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I can't seem to get Sonar to recognize the 2 Waves plugins that I recently purchased. I seem to have them DL'd and activated, but Sonar's Plugin Manager won't scan them.

I hate that Waves Central won't let me put the plugs where I want them, but I did find them and pointed Plugin Manager to them, but no luck yet.

Any ideas? Is it possible to use Waves Central and direct it to install the plugs where I want them?

TIA

Look in C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Waves\Plugins V9

Someone else had a similar problem...

Thanks Larry. I think that did it. I had pointed Plugin Manager to the Waves parent file and it looks like I needed to point it to the Plugins V9 file.

Thank you!

One of the Waves plugs I bought is the Kramer HLS eq. Comparing it to the IK EQ73 that I normally use on male vocals. After getting a sound I like on the HLS, I tried matching it with the 73. There is definitely a difference in the sound of these two EQs. Subtle, but different.

The other plug I got from Waves is their dbx 160 clone. Just reading up on it and going to try it across the drum buss.

Thanks again Larry!

The HLS is based on the Helios Console and the EQ 73 is based on the Neve 1073,
so they should sound different...if they didn't I'd be questioning it - or your ears

LOL!! And I DO question my ears fairly regularly!!

Yes, they sound different, but I was trying to make them sound the same, so I could listen to the differences. I love the EQ73, but there is a "warmth" to the HLS that I really like for this particular singer/song.

Well, I thought everything was smooth sailing after I FINALLY got the waves plugs installed and working .......

I tried to open another instance last night and it crashed Sonar. WTH!! So I got busy researching. I finally figured out that I was disconnected from the web. So I took a look at WC and sure enough, I still had my waves licenses on the cloud. OK, easy enough, I'll just move them to my DAW system. Followed the steps and now WC AND my account page at waves website say my licenses are in fact, on my system. ...... but they still won't open when I'm disconnected and crash Sonar every time!!

Anyone have any ideas? Do I need to shut down my DAW to activate them? Hmmmmmmm ......

I followed the Waves instructions exactly. The first pass uninstalled all the existing plugs and added the new plug. Then I went back and selected show licenses on this computer. It showed all my products and I selected install all. Bingo, all the stuff was up and running and Sonar found everything just fine.

I'm using default locations for all my Waves stuff.
