Thanks Greg.

TTS-1 is working fine for me in Plat-64 and X3-64 too.  Not so much with BiaB.  I'm just trying to figure out why.

The error I get in BiaB is that the tts dll isn't a valid win32 file.

I don't even see that.  In OPTIONS>PREFERENCES>MIDI DRIVER>SYNTHESIZER/SOUNDCARD pull down menu, I can choose Cakewalk TTS-1, but in the VSTi/DXiSynth Settings I can only choose either CoyoteWT or Sampletank 2.

as long as Coyote doesn't ask me for money after a certain period of time, I'm content with it.  I personally don't need really good sounding GM synth sounds for BIAB.  as long as I can tell what the sound is (i.e. piano, sax, clarinet, guitar, etc) then I'm happy with a poor GM soundmodule because I KNOW I won't use it for anything final.  any tracks I use from BIAB are imported into sonar as either Realtrack wave files, or I'll just import the MIDI into sonar and use Kontakt or whatever softsynth I have that's appropriate in sonar only.  that way I don't have to deal with BIAB's clunky way of recording or mixing.  Real Band is better, but it's still not Sonar, so I just don't use either one for anything other than creating the realtracks and MIDI tracks.

oh and as far as JBridge, I have not used it.  I remember when sonar first went to 64 bit lots of people talked about it then, but I never did use it then either.

Bob, check this thread on the pgmusic forums out:

he says he got it to work by copying the 32bit DXi from Sonar 7 installation.

oh, and JBridge will not work with DXi, it only bridges VSTi's.  DXi has to be written for 64bit or 32bit programs.  that's probably why the above worked for him.

Thanks for the link.  That is the exact scenario I'm faced with.  I don't have a 32 bit version installed anywhere, so I'm going to install X3 x32 side x side and see how that works.  I have X3(e)x64 and Platx64 installed ATM.

As far as sound quality goes, my intent is the same as what you described.  My intended use for BiaB is for scratchpad/songwriting and such, not for final output.  I'm familiar with TTS-1, so it sounds "better" to me.  Or at least I'm able to mentally translate coming from a familiar set of sounds.

I appreciate you taking the time ...

I just installed X3P 32 bit and I'm happy to report that BiaB automatically sees TTS-1 with no further intervention.  I went ahead and installed the whole thing (Less Rapture) to have the other 32 bit goodies available for BiaB in case I get bored one day.

Thanks again Beagle

That is great news Bob I'm real happy for you .
Yes,  putting the X3 32 bit plugs in there is a good idea for having better sounds in BIAB .
I like to use the  TTS-1 with the Sonitus Multi Band as my default for the Midi playback in BIAB

awesome Bob!  I might do that as well.  I do think TTS-1 sounds better than Coyote.

I've always like the Sonitus stuff, so I figgered I might as well check the box since my mouse was right there anyway.

I (think) I remember a post on here somewhere that the newer Sonar downloads offer 32 or 64 bit versions of TTS-1 dependent of which version of Sonar was selected.  The posting also indicated you can get the 32 bit download to get the 32 bit TTS-1 on your 64 bit operating system.

My system is 32 bit so TTS-1 still works with BiaB.
