OK that makes sense... anyway it all worked out, and I'm actually quite pleased with the new start screen - I've found myself exploring the Discover tab more than I think I would have otherwise, and I like the ctl-N and ctl-O functionality, that seems about right.

Has anyone else tried clicking on the Discover logo above the grid on the start screen? Kind of interesting...

A question.... I installed the demo projects and, very much enjoyed them. Now, I no longer have any use for them. How do I get rid of them?

I have tried loading one of the demos but it complained that my sample rate was incorrect.

How do I find out what it should be so I can change it?

Roger

You will see the format in the transport module, left from BPM.
All the demos so far use 44.1 kHz, 24 bits.

This 'couldn't play because' is quite irritating with Sonar - or is it somehow related to the audio interface ?
At a minimum, it should indicate what it is expecting, such as Couldn't play 44.1/24 in current configuration.
Even better, it should auto-change the parameters of the audio interface automatically.

I haven't spent a lot of time testing, but somehow the problem seems to fade away the second time one opens a demo project.

Kudos to Cakewalk for finally shipping a few demo projects, that will be very useful to show bugs, share techniques, learn and so forth.

However, they are very simple in their track count, midi usage (only 1 demo) and vsti usage (0 demo).
I hope Cakewalk will in the future add other projects more representative of (a big part ?) of its audience, with many Vstis, Plugins and tracks.
There are enough VSTis and plugins shipping in Sonar for demos projects that can be opened by all Sonar customers.

Hi. They default to C:\Cakewalk Content\Demo Projects. You can just delete the "Demo Projects" folder.
All the best.

Agreed. It's kind of strange for a DAW that started as a MIDI sequencer and both MIDI and VST(i) usage is kind of a strong suit. Maybe the community can submit some material, using only included instruments and effects? And/or showcasing some of the company's paid addons like Rapture Pro and z3ta+2? Just a thought...

The demo projects are designed to work across all version of SONAR, so they don't include a lot of content that's specific to Professional/Platinum.

I found by using CCCs reinstall that it picked up the newer version of 23.08.0.30 ie rebuild 2.

rog999I have tried loading one of the demos but it complained that my sample rate was incorrect.

My audio device only supports 48kHz and 96kHz in ASIO mode. If I load a 44.1kHz project, I have to switch to WASAPI mode to be able to work with the project.

Check your "Driver Mode" on the "Playback and Recording" section of the Preferences dialog box.
