I started Skiddily Iddily Diddily awhile back and it had been laying unfinished on my hard drive. I decided to try to shape it up some. I was going for a David Letterman band kind of sound with it.A funky filler band kind of thing.
The only programming is with midi into BFD2. The rest of it is simply me playing...no loops at all.

The second one is a rendition of "Amazing Grace" updated in the Chris Tomlin version. I tracked vocals with my old MXL 990. Yeah I know quality lol. No melodyne. Maybe I should.

The story behind that song is quite interesting. The man who wrote the song was at one time quite a rascal and he later turned his life around.

Starise, Well, that first one was pretty funky for sure, both guitar and drums were very creative and sounded really good. Enjoyed the arrangement of this one and the mix was nice and clear sounding.

Now listening to Amazing Grace. Very nice piano sound and playing and your vocals fit in nicely and the mix is just right for this piece. The only critique I would have is how the second song ended, it might need a longer verb tail on it.

Nice job on both pieces. Sing it out!! Praise Him!!

Peace and Blessings, John

The instrumental sounded a bit disjointed to me, like a bunch of different voices taking turns shouting "hey look at me" before being interrupted by the next one.  Sorry Tim, not really my thing. ;)

On the other hand, I thought Amazing Grace was quite good.  Your vocal is very nice.  You did a great job with this one!  Simple but effective, for sure.

The Maillard Reaction
Skiddly Diddly does it for me.

It's nice to hear guitars sound exciting and adventurous. I miss that quality in so many contemporary recordings.

I like your performance of Amazing Grace and especially liked the timing and pacing. It seemed thoughtful and humane.

best regards,
mike

Guitarhacker
I liked them both.

The first sounded more like a groove than a song....

Amazing Grace does have a very interesting back story behind it and of course the writer too.

Hi John, Thanks for listening and the comments man. In Amazing Grace I hear what you're saying about the verb.  I'll experiment next week and see what I can come up with.

Hey TheBand19 you crack me up lol. That's my bro Rick awesome!

Hi Walt, That's ok I wouldn't expect this to be everyone's cup of tea.The term "call and response" that originated in African music and carried over into some funk, gospel and others is simply a musical statement followed by another musical answer. I think this is what you are referring to.  Thanks for your comments.

Clint- As always I appreciate your comments, they mean a lot.

Mike- It's good to see you over here,we can always use another good set of ears. Thanks for listening . I appreciate your listen and comments.

Herb- Thanks man. Yeah I'm still working on getting more structure to my music. It was intended to be a David Letterman jam band kind of thing...not much structure otherwise I guess. Thanks and I value your comments.

 Chazmcg- Thanks !

This is the first thing I've listened to all day, and I enjoyed it!  I'm going back for more coffee and will listen to this again.  What's cool is I never know what to expect from you.
