There are quite a few good sample libraries that require full Kontakt, as opposed to just the player.
I'm not sure I need any of the stuff in Komplete or KU, so I was just wondering if anyone knows of a cost-effective way to get the full Kontakt 5.

Thanks in advance!

If you own one of a "zillion" products you qualify for a Crossgrade to Kontakt Full...

You can also keep your eyes on KVR, as many times it comes up for sale...

Drum'Mica is free....and qualifies for the crossgrade pricing on Kontakt

Once you have that registered, select the Crossgrade Option when purchasing Kontakt...

Or just wait to find it on KVR...

Most people probably won't 'need' everything that comes in KU, but if you have a product that Crossgrades/upgrades to KU, it definitely will keep you satisfied for a long time and it includes Kontakt.

Around this time of the year, NI usually has some sort of sale/deal......although summer is usually the best time to jump in.

NI will be half off next week but not always upgrades or crossgrades. Id wait for a week and see. I got into Komplete by buying used Komplete 7 for around $200. and that had Kontakt4. 6 months later the sale had upgrade to Komplete 9 for $74.50. No brainer! that's how I got to Kontakt 5.

Larry is correct. You can get a crossgrade to Kontakt 5 from the free Drumica for $249.00.
Historically, they have a winter/holiday sale in November or December with 50% off. I don't know the exact date or amount of discount so stay tuned to these forums.

The drummica registration is in German.
On one of the other internet forums someone posted a translation to help get you through the registration.

As Larry mentioned, it comes up for sale in the KVR marketplace all the time.

Regarding the crossgrade/upgrade to KU, the beauty of the 50% sale coming up is that a lot of folks will move up to KU and will then unload their individual Kontakt licenses on KVR.

Historically, it's been a guaranteed side effect, so within the next two weeks, you will have the choice of crossgrade to Kontakt (may or may not be part of the 50% sale), or you can try to score it secondhand from KVR (where it will likely be a lot cheaper).

In the latter case, it wouldn't hurt to post a "Want To Buy" ad now, and keep bumping it.

I don't get this program. I have Elements, but haven't found much use for it, so I uninstalled it. What is it that I don't know?

If you have Komplete Elements you have the Player version on Kontakt...

Kontakt full has the greatest number of available "Outstanding" libraries and
it's vastly powerful...highly recommend some YouTube videos to see the full
potential of Kontakt...and there are excellent courses from Groove 3, AskVideo, etc
that can broaden your knowledge of Kontakt...

Does Guitar Rig 5 qualify for cross grade ? (I find the NI site to be a little confusing, but I'm easily confused) I have been thinking about Kontakt for a while, but never really liked Guitar Rig, and that put me off NI a bit. I have heard some nice sounding basses thought for contact, Rickenbacker I think, among other stuff
