I can imagine they were! I'd have to say he's my fave guitarist.
Saw him on the UFO Lights Out tour waaaay back in the day.

I caught UFO in 1980 Jeff, I don't think Shenker was with them then though. Strangers in the Night is still one of my favourite albums.

Caught Priest twice at a bar/club in Boston before they hit it big - Stained Class tour.

Cool! 1983 was my first Priest gig, on the pre-Defenders of the Faith mini-tour.

I've always seen them in either Birmingham or Wolverhampton, each of which would be considered their 'home' gig. Rob always goes out of his way to thank the crowd for their support when they started out. On Thursday, he even mentioned 'Holy Joe's' (also referenced in Deal With The Devil on Angel of Retribution) - the local church hall they used to rehearse in. He said they would pay the vicar £5 for hire of the room on a Friday evening and the vicar would then spend it down the local pub getting drunk!

They paid tribute to the local connection with the birth of heavy metal by playing Sabbath's War Pigs as the pre-set intro, and they'd even adapted the stage curtain with the words "Welcome to the Home of British Steel", a dual reference to the album of the same name and to the heavy industry that once thrived in this part of the West Midlands' 'Black Country':

Having now heard both Scorpions and Shenker's versions of Rock You Like A Hurricane live (and in the same venue as it happens), I have to say the Shenker version was far superior.

Some wankers on this forum did a mock version after the Sandy Hurricane (here in the US) that was sh!te (well, the vocal was sh!te).

That's a great set list! A good cross section from most of the albums.
Cool pix, too! They always have a decent stage show.

And I see Ian Hill's stance and "glued to the stage" position hasn't changed in what, 30-35 years

Wow, just wow

You know ... I had a chance to see Margo Fonteyn and Rudolf Nureyev, later saw Misha, and then got to see Pavarotti ... and people like "Judas Priest, or Black Sabbath, just didn't do it for me. Sorry, I do not worship the pictures of Judy Garland with a blue or pink scrim in the background, that every one still thinks is a "star".

There is a lot of music, that for my tastes, does nothing for me. Of all the folks to see in my life, the only ones I would want to see would be Klaus Schulze, Vangelis, Mike Oldfield, Richard Pinhas/Robert Fripp (together ought to be fun!) and even Ryuichi Sakamoto ... some of these pop/rock acts are not on my agenda. I grew out of that phase very quickly, and in fact, due to language barriers, never really was in it, anyway. By 18, I thought Chicago's first 2 albums were awesome ... everyone else wanted to get head bashed on Iron Butterfly! I liked the music, but getting head bashed was not where I was at. Even the Doors made sense to me ... to everyone it was stoned immaculate! Most of it, was NOT stoned stuff at all!
