the new update has a few issues
i have found.
the latest is when it crashes and saves a recovery 
that recovery will not play
it pops...... and and shows up on the vu meters
with no sound
right now im am saving my work more often than before to keep from losing it
any ideas

A recovery file is an attempt to save the work, which may or may not be successful depending on the state of the program when it crashes. Probably the best strategy is to find out why it's crashing, and solve that issue. 

have you installed the Device Updater 1.2.0 - Windows ?
not really sure if it will help but its worth a try (for your komplete audio 6 device).

i hope someone out there may have the answer

1- Make a copy of the project.
2- Run in safe mode. this will load one plug in at a time.
3- Try to save after loading each plug in one at a time.
Test: does it save a New (blank) project ? if it does that might be a good idea that it is a plug in.
it could very well be a plug in that is causing the crash upon save.

Not sure if it's the cause of your issue, but worth a quick check. I see that you list Komplete Audio 6 in your specs ,NI recently released some updates.
