  • [Solved] Is it possible to hide controller events but still show midi notes in midi clips in Track View? (p.2)

Okay you are making me re-think my workflow big-time. I've avoided the inline PRV for years, because it 'looks and acts differently' from the "real" PRV. Maybe that's the point?

Yes, absolutely. For example before the PRV revisions, IMHO the inline PRV was by far the best way to edit controllers. You could increase the track height to show controllers in extreme detail, as well as see controllers referred to each other and to notes.

Also there are different attributes to editing automation in a track, where the curves are almost more like smooth splines, as opposed to the PRV where the automation is more traditional.

As to moving the clip, scook nailed it.

Thanks guys - my education continues. Yet another mystery though: my numeric nudge keys do not appear to work in the inline PRV. Is that right? I've been reading the Help file all morning. Is there a list or summary anywhere of the differences between editing in the inline PRV vs. regular PRV?

Ps. I'm trying to nudge notes, not clips in the inline PRV.

Nudge works for me. Lasso the note(s) then use the numeric keypad to nudge.

This forum is like an interactive owner's manual. Great stuff.

No go for me. What's really weird is I have PRV open on my 2nd monitor, and Track View on my main. If I select and nudges notes in PRV, notes move properly in both views. But when I select the notes in the inline PRV, nudge keys have no effect. I quit Sonar, restarted, and still no go. Any ideas? [Running 23.8.0 build 30 2017.08]

Like scook, working for me here. Are you sure you're selecting the notes in the inline PRV? And are you finding that nudge right works, but nudge left doesn't?

I just did the following:  1. Restarted PC (Win 10pro 64 loaded and tweaked for high track counts, 64gb ram etc.) 2. Started Sonar, opened new project. 3. Added one midi track set to Kurzweil keybd. 3. Recorded short midi clip, and played back. 4. Set Track filter to Notes, maximized view. 5. Lassoed selected random single notes and multiple notes. 6. Checked that Num Lock is on, then pressed following numeric keys in turn: 1,2,3,7,8&9; nothing discernible happens. But, 4&6 move the Now time left/right. (Yes, I am 100% sure I'm selecting the notes in the inline PRV.)
Next, without changing anything else, I opened the PRV on the same monitor as the track view (in browser), selected one note, hit 1, and it moved left perfectly. All of the nudge keys function perfectly, as long as the focus is on PRV view. I have both views open side by side, and I can see the notes move in both views as expected. But when I select the inline PRV, I get the results reported above.
On a whim, I just tried using the Process>Nudge menu commands with focus on the in the inline PRV...and they all work fine! So this has something to do with the numeric key shortcuts? But why would they work fine in one view, but not the other?  (I checked my key bindings in preferences and everything looks normal.)
???

Make sure the lens drop down is set to None

I booted up this morning, repeated the steps above, confirmed that Lenses is set to none...
and nudge still doesn't work in the inline PRV. Thanks anyway - any other ideas?
