  • Metronome going silent after changes in click sounds

Hey all, I've searched to see if anyone else is having this issue. No joy.

It is very weird. I have a project that I'm sending to my drummer for him to create a drum part, so it is just guitars & a click, which I recorded to an aux track. He asked if I could change the sound of the "other" beats so he could hear it better while playing along to it. I had "stick 2" as that sound. I said "sure, easy-peasy" & went in to preferences, picked "ping low," clicked "apply" and "ok" and went to record the new click track, but no metronome! And this only happens in this particular project.

I used the same template as several other projects I'm working on, and I can still change the metronome sounds in them. I have tried deleting the aux track, sending the click to master, all the obvious dumb-assery that I am occasionally inclined to do with mute, solo, etc, and I cannot figure out what is going on. If I leave the sounds as they are, I can reroute the click to an aux track or master & the sound is there for either record or play, whichever is selected.  I can delete the existing aux track, create a new one, whatever, and it is there as long as I don't change the sounds in preferences. The second I change either sound (first beat, other beats) the metronome goes silent.

Sonar Platinum latest update, Windows 10 quad-core, loads of memory, and most importantly, so far it seems to be an issue in just this one project. So for now, the drummer just has to live with "stick 2" but if anyone has some thoughts on this I would appreciate it. Thanks!!

IIRC There is a bug in Sonar where the Metronome can go silent. Toggling the Global FX button in the control bars Mix module will fix this issue.

Chuck, that might be it, I'll go give it a try right now. I've been out of town all day & just walked in. I'll let you know if it works. Thanks!

Chuck, that was it! Clearly, my search kung-fu needs work. I tried all kinds of phrasing & couldn't find anything about this bug. Oh well, now I know. I think it is very weird that so far it only happened in this particular project. But, I guess it doesn't matter, now I have the fix.

Thank you so much for the tip!
