Hey everyone,

My second video off my album Echoes In The Dark is now online. "Whirlwind" was named an Official Selection and had its World Premiere at this past weekend's Pollygrind Film Festival and now it's up for everyone to see. I got a lot of great feedback on my first video, "Lights In The Sky" and I created this one using public domain footage in a similar fashion. I plan on doing one more public domain footage based video and after that, I have plans to create some videos with some local filmmakers and actors.

Right now though, "Whirlwind" is my new video and I'm excited to have it out there! Enjoy and let me know what you think.

Nice job David!  Very creative.  Mix sounds good.  I am not found of the synth lead sounds.  I it is little too square wave.  Maybe it could be softened through a tube VST.

All the best luck with your endeavors.

Thanks Rimshot. Yea I played with changing the main synth a lot before finalizing the song because I knew it would be somewhat polarizing but in the end I decided to stick with the sharpness of it just cause it gave it a really "wild" sound I thought, especially with the reverb on it.

I love the music David, but I'm sorry to say the video seems a bit bland to me.  Very "white", and the main object (the white tendrilly snaky thing) never really changes much, just keeps spinning around and around, morphing and duplicating and spinning some more, but still seems substantially the same.  Maybe this is what you were going for.

The few full screen overlay effects you do use from time to time (the red/blue flashing and the white noise) seem pretty rudimentary/elementary.  Also, I'm not a fan of how the sidebars seem to switch randomly from white to black to white.  Actually, I'm curious why you have sidebars at all, rather than staying full frame the whole time.

Obviously those Pollygrind Film Festival folks know what they're looking for, since your video was made an Official Selection.  I just don't happen to agree with them.  Sorry David!

hey no problem, it's obviously not gonna be for everyone. as for the sidebars, this is public domain footage i'm chopping up, and it was made long ago so it's full frame. i didn't want to crop it, so i figured i'd play with changing sidebar colors to at least make use of the sides. i also didn't want to go too crazy with the overlay effects and just used them in a few places here and there. trust me if i could hire some computer graphics people to do it from scratch it would be WAY coolor, but for what it is I'm happy with it, and people seemed to really dig it at the festival :-)
