With all this widespread, massive consumption of bacon going on in this country, you would think that we would be facing a deadly epidemic of colon cancer. But guess what, the colon cancer death rate is in free fall! :

My personal experience with food (and or food additive) cancer scares goes back to the 1960's when we were told that the artificial sweetener cyclamate was a cancer risk. We later found out that you had to be a lab rat that consumed 350 cans of diet soda daily, over a long period of time, to have a small increased incidence of rat bladder cancer.
And, despite many food/food additive scares since the 60's, the average life expectancy of all Americans has been gradually increasing to reach an all time high in 2012 : 78.8 years!
So get a grip and pass the bacon!
