I'm with you Eddie, I never buy at list - always wait for a sale. You may have to wait a month or two, but there are sales and vouchers for those that are patient. I also agree about the fact you can make great music without them, but once you experience them...
 
I had the ultimate in luck earlier this year. I bought an Octo to replace a Quad. When I went to register it online I found that UAD was running their customer loyalty promotion. Due to the number of plugins I had, I got over $900 in free plugins for my Octo!
 
It felt like Christmas. :)
