Hi,

I'm not sure that these things can die down, until the day that some places and many other countries in the Arab world, begin a serious condemning of all these barbarous acts and idealistic wars. Not to mention that it is very likely that some of them are financing many of these battles, otherwise, we would not be hearing the silence that we hear from them. if these finances were stopped, no place out there would survive very long and a lot of this stuff would likely die down, and quickly.

Sadly, this is doing nothing for the Moslems beliefs and all it is doing is alienating more and more people, and by the time that some of these folks acknowledge the issues and their culpabilities, I think that they themselves will be in serious trouble, ... and too late to come to supper!

One can only hope, but as the world gets more and more populated, and opinionated, I seriously doubt that any of this can survive, since the past 75 years has been nothing but the proliferations of warlords into countries and then more battles for another warlord, and then more of this and that, which has created a huge number of countries in Africa and solved ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! And even less answers in sight, as some countries are still battling things ... badly. I'm guessing the middle east will break up into 5 or 10 more countries ... which is probably better, than the solutions right now. That does not, in the end, bode well for Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya, India (specially!!!) to name just a few!

I wish there was an answer ... I'm not sure there is ... it's over populated and there are too many opinions and ideals at stake.

Violence against innocents is evil. Regardless of ideology or politics, murdering innocent people is evil and inexcusable. Any ideology or world view that claims that we can only have peace when everyone who disagrees with them is dead is evil by definition. One one hand, my desire to see justice demands that we put these murderers down like rabid animals. On the other hand, I grieve for innocents on both sides of the border. When we retaliate by bombing urban centers and killing hundreds of women and children, it's difficult to claim moral superiority. At the same time, it seems that, if left unchecked, these fundamentalists will not be satisfied until they have destroyed the rest of humanity.

It's a terrible situation and I lack the wisdom to solve the problem. My prayers are with the people of Paris.

We're constantly reminded that the vast majority of people in this part of the world, of this certain religion, are peaceful and want nothing to do with the violence. I read an interesting viewpoint on social media the other day which has apparently been falsely attributed to an old Polish psychiatrist. Anyway despite the inevitable social media inaccuracy of the source, I thought it made quite a good point. Basically he says that this "peaceful majority" argument, while true, is irrelevant to the problem because fanatics currently "own" the religion and fanatics are the ones shaping its future. He then goes on to cite the examples of Nazi Germany, communist Russia and communist China, the vast majority of whose populations just wanted to live in peace too, yet their leaders managed to slaughter over 100 million people in their name. Unless this peaceful "moderate" majority speaks out, rises up and retains control of their religion's future, then they will wake up one day and find that these barbarians own them, their religion and their culture.

If these fanatics continue to grow in number and in power then it's only a matter of time before they get their hands on a nuke or a serious chemical weapon and take out somewhere like Paris or New York with potentially millions dead. The end goal of their holy jihad is complete world domination and the subjugation of everyone to Islam. They're not going to abandon those goals if the West leaves them alone to get on with it. So at some point the West is going to have to come down on them like a ton of bricks, or rather a ton of bombs. Unfortunately, innocent people are going to die. But I just don't see how you're going to defeat such an evil, demented force without their being collateral damage in the form of humans. They're certainly not going to listen to reason and they're not going to change their mind about Western civilization if we offer them an olive branch. They have to go.

How do you negotiate with or try to even live with people who think like this?

On a serious note, someone up there ^^^ had what is probably the answer, it must come from inside, they must rise up and sort them out, but I don't think that will happen. It's just the way it is, and probably the way it will always be until the end. Basically, until it's knocking on your front door there is not much you can do about it, yeah it's sad and all that etc etc etc, but really, who will really care about it 6 months down the track, heck, even next week ? Yeah of course we will, but we have to say that don't we ?, but 'really' . . .  It's how things are, there are more than the 150 or so innocent people killed violently and needlessly around the world everyday, and we don't hear about them, because it's not big news, there is no shock value, where is the threads for these poor innocent people ? no one 'really' cares until it is knocking on their front door, or they are directly involved. We all see the pictures on TV, 'oooohhhh' . . . . 'aaaahhhhh' . . . 'how shocking' . . .  'someone must pay' . . . 'hunt them down' . . . then we change the channel and watch the latest episode of The Big Bang Theory and life goes on . . . yeah we all feel sad and say how terrible it is and everything, all the stuff society and those whose opinion of ourselves matters to us expects us to say, but really, until it's knocking on your door . . . . And here is an example, and no offense meant or intended, it's just an example

What I would like to say about these sub-human terrorist savages would get me banned from this forum.

If we care that little, that speaking what is truly on our mind is trumped by whether or not we will get banned from an internet forum of all things . . . then hey . . .

Again, it's just an example, no offense meant or intended, but if it is taken I really couldn't care less, but I am sure you get the point. (and I am not referring to or pointing at the OP, it is a generalization)

Let's put matters into some sort of perspective.

A handful of tasteless cartoons is enough to set the whole A**b world alight in rabid displays of anger, protest, retribution and murder.

Yet 129 completely innocent people are massacred and the silence from a billion and a half M****ms is deafening.

Of course, the reason for this is obvious to all but the most belligerent 'head-stuck-in-the-sand' progressive liberal lefty...
