Hello. Hopefully someone has an idea of what's going on. I am using Sonar Pro with a Lexicon Alpha USB audio interface.  Everything was working fine when all of a sudden, when I played back any of my projects, the sounds is distorted and very wobbly.  After a lot of experimenting, I went to the audio menu and unchecked the Lexicon from the Audio Device/Input driver menu, and the noise went away and everything was fine. Thing is, now I can't record through it. I tried reinstalling a few times, changed some settings, turned off Wifi, updated the driver but no luck. Changing from Mme to ASIO messes everything up so I can't do that.
Is the problem the Lexicon, it is Sonar or is it an combination of both? Should I just replace the Lexicon? I've had it for about a year or so. I'm running Windows 10.

Could be a sample rate issue. Is the asio driver set to the correct sample rate / bit depth for the project?

I did try different settings but for some reason ASIO didn't work (especially with old projects) so I still have it set to MME but nothing I've tried has worked.

Sorry to say but that interface was never supplied with good drivers and is a bit of a door stop in the world of audio interfaces. Start shopping. 
 
Only thing that might work is ASIO4all but that's a band-aid. 
MME mode is the very worst of all environment to work in on a DAW and should be avoided. See below..
In a loopback test MME mode will place your audio late by a whole lot.. SO your recordings will be way out of sync. 
 

Like CM above said there seemed to be bad drivers with your Lexicon from the beginning.  There are some good threads on this site about other recommended interfaces that are worth a read.  Or you could post a new thread on the hardware section asking for thoughts.  For what it's worth, if you can afford it, I highly recommend RME.

Wobbly does suggest a clock rate or synchronization problem. The interface needs a clock source. Is there a setting in the device properties? Also, Sonar should use that device as a playback and record clock source.

I'm afraid you're right. It was Ok for awhile but I am going to look for something else.
