I usually stay packed and ready to head out to record.

Recently, I've come up short one mic stand and a little cable (iPad camera connection kit) I use to connect my interface to my iPad. I really don't need either item. Both are easily replaced.

But I keep looking and looking.

I've spread out all my gear repeatedly hunting out the little iPad connector. I can't let it go.

:-/

I think I'd be more laid back if I lost a nice mic.

I lost a teaspoon recently and it bugged me for days. Where in the hell could it have gone? It got to the point where I even contemplated the possibility that someone had let themselves into my apartment and stole it just to send me nuts. My girlfriend put a stop to the insanity by pointing out that knowing me, I probably threw it in the trash along with a tea-bag.

I'm really glad to hear it's not just me.  I have been missing a folding box cutter for months.  Not in the house.  Not in the garage.  Not in the shop building, the car, the truck, ...

I'm that same way.

I "lost" my favorite pocket knife recently. I was working in an attic of a church and when I got down out of the attic, I noticed my knife wasn't clipped to the inside of my jeans pocket. The attic was large and pretty inaccessible in some places. So I dropped my tool belt and grabbed my flashlight and headed back up to look. I probably spent an hour looking for that knife. No luck. It was close to 5pm so I decided to come back the next morning to have a look again. For the second day, and another hour or so, I looked, lifted insulation, peeked under duct work, and eventually came up empty handed.

Here's the kicker. The knife cost me a whopping $5 when I bought it. I resigned the knife to the "oh well, that one's gone" file and went to the store and bought a new one. This one set me back $30 but I needed a good knife since I often use that knife on the job daily.

Fast forward a few months.

I'm riding home and a sudden need to hit the brakes hard occurred. I hate that because, everything on the seat, including my briefcase, tends to slide forward to the floor. And it did. But I felt something else under my foot on my side. I looked down and there..... laying on the floor by the gas pedal....was my missing knife.  OH JOYOUS DAY!!!!!

Seems I had removed it from my pocket before I went into the attic and placed it on the floor beside my drivers seat. You see, I had lost the knife in that attic a few months previously when I had stooped down to fish a wire under some duct work. It fell out of my pocket and slipped down the sloping ceiling coming to rest on the insulation but way back under the ductwork. I remembered that incident and removed the knife to prevent it from happening again..... the only problem was that I forgot that I had taken it out of my pocket.... and as a result, spent over 2 hours poking around a hot, dark attic looking for the "not really missing" knife.  Man did I feel dumb.  But I have my $5 most favorite knife back and now It stays in my nightstand drawer. Hope I don't forget that I put it there.

It happens.

See, I'm sure I put the iPad to USB adapter some where safe. I'll only find it when I get another and go to put it some where safe.
