Hello and good morning everyone.
I'm thinking about maybe, sort of getting the new Microsoft surface laptop I-7 core, 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM.
I want to 1. get your opinion on this new machine. 2. contact Microsoft with all the specs of sonar platinum and ask them if their machine is compatible. my question is, how do I locate all that information so I can copy/paste it to my question.
I'm also going to ask toontrack the same question to send all the specs of the new superior drummer 3.
on a side-note/update on the errors, i was getting when trying to open sonar. after hours on the phone with sweetwater and geek squad also doing an exhaustive hard drive diagnostics check I simply uninstalled/reinstalled sonar and (so far) all things seem to be good with the world.
However, I still have no idea what was wrong.
ok, that be it. thank you all for your time and guidance.

Of course, the other issue that those far more experienced than myself will ask is what you want this computer to do.  My huge gripe is that my motherboard limits me to 32Gb of memory when 64GB would do far better with the samples I want to combine... I can get around it but I'm greedy.

Do you just want to mix your band with a couple of MIDI tracks to make your sound bigger?  Or, do you intend on recreating the London Symphony Orchestra and having your laptop "do it all"?

You don't have to worry about Windows - Sonar compatibility. You should rather check your audio interface compatibility with "Surface" motherboard. Also see if audio interface ASIO drivers are up to date.

Ya, I think it's a bit of a waste of time contacting MS . What are they going to even speculate on?
As said it 99%  all about your audio interface and it's drivers.
