Forgot to mention what my Mom now uses (as well as several of my friends).  No coffee pot or filters required and NO grounds to deal with.  They all like it enough that they don't use their brewers any more.

I can't speak so much to the reusable filter as I use paper ones, but after much struggling to find an acceptable new maker after all the old ones we had ended up with either broken makers or carafes, I got one of these:

http://www.amazon.com/Melitta-46894-10-Cup-Thermal-Coffeemaker/dp/B005L3NIRS

The thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot/warm for hours (while using no power) and you don't have to worry about someone dropping the glass one.

Couldn't be happier with it. I'd guess you could just find a reusable #4 filter that would fit.

The pictured reusable is exactly the one that my Mom has with her pot.  Good looking brewer there Drew.

Mike,
People have been shot over coffee down on this coast, lot'sa times.

I'm from extreme South Louisiana,*and since we rate coffee by viscosity index (i.e. 10-W-30, 20-W-40 etc), well yeah, we're serious about our coffee

Many of us can only drink it with chicory, which is a ground up and roasted weed, pretty much, and we literally have to ship French Market Yellow Stripe to those friends and family members who never made it back after Katrina.

However, I,at great cost and some peril, have found a coffee maker that's perfect here in Studio Bougalee.

It seems that old man Acme, (yep...THAT Acme), developed The Acme Coffee Making Lava Lamp just a few days before his tragic and violent death.

I was able to get one unit from Acme's grieving wife, which took a while,as she was wailing and crying and saying things about "...him and those fookin' springs...", I mean she just went on and on and on.

Bach home between high tides, I was soon able to see that while the unit made great molasses grade (weak) coffee, it could only make small batches of 55 gallons at a time. That's right, a mere drum full, which all of you can surely see is not nearly enough for me and my two studio cats Nervine and Scrotum, barely enough to bounce even a short audio track in S8.5.3.

AND even worse, it turned out to be monaural. Left channel only. Believe me, I know all about channels... at least  I know all about navigation channels**

Obviously I hadda get another one fer stereo.

Fortunately, after much searching and a little light bribery, I have a second unit coming, as well as great investment opportunity, from a really nice gentleman in Nigeria, so all is well.

Hope this helps,

Tony S

http://www.walmart.com/ip...e-Brewer-GRX-B/4891346 What? Did not get the springy thingy that you clean out the channel where the coffee comes out with Bunn (made in Germany)? Used in Restaurants everywhere: http://www.webstaurantsto...rcOHjLYCFetFMgod3BoARw Coffee tastes the best made with a Bunn!

Needs Bunn filters also, since they are just taller than other coffee filters.

Was I the only one who read that as, "Coffee tastes best when made with a Bunny"?

I don't want to be the one to clean the coffee grinder.  I'm just sayin'...

Mike I think if I were looking at a bigger brewer I would  look for one with a reusable filter, maybe a spare so you could run one through the dishwasher while using the other.

I tend to agree with the idea of a Keurig. I am cheap so I bought a reusable system for mine and I grind my own beans, but if your hosting several people who drink coffee and using a Keurig you would never need to clean another coffee pot or empty another filter. The guests could choose whatever they like from a selection.

The commercial Keurig machines are even more maintenance free. They have a water line attached so you never need refill water either.
