This one is great!  I think the lyrics are excellent!  Really fun song.  I like the more modern drum mix and the tight bass.  And the different guitars and fiddle and other stringed instruments fill it out nicely.

Thanks for the nice feedback Geno... I'm really glad you liked it...

Hey Frank, this is a real grinner, nice upbeat, fun song. Dobro work is really fine, reminds me of Jerry Douglas. The vocal is a little buried, and has a bit of a metallic Melodyne sound to it (is that on the harmonies?), but the melody itself works fine for me. Good hooky song. I like that photo too, I always think you're bracing yourself 'cos there's a boulder rolling down that slope..

A little silly in our lives help us cope with the unsilly.

It made me smile and the mix bounced around my room nice.

Thanks for being silly and sharing your silly with us.

I love it.  It has your usual great performance and production.  Your harmonies are great also.  Ya, the lyrics are silly and to me terrific.  In my mind, you gotta have fun with your music --- at least some of the time  ---- and this song ain't nothin' but fun!  It's great to go in a different direction sometimes -- isn't it?
Terrific stuff Frank!!!

Hey Frank, yup it`s damn catchy but god do I hate autotune LOL!!!!!!!

Thanks for listening alkie... it is "catchy",  but I gotta' tell ya... I couldn't care less about what you "hate"

Frank, I love stuff like this. The auto-tune is the only issue I had with the song. It's poppy, fun, makes you move, and some country star would make it a hit just the way it is if THEY wrote it and performed it.
Don't ever feel anything is silly. It's your art...it's unique, it's a piece of you. Sometimes we're silly and act like kids no matter how old we are. Sometimes we're mad, sometimes we're sad....songs are an extension of everything, ya know? I think it was great that you shared this. Wou ldhave loved to hear it without auto-tune with your strong vocal the way I know it to be. Playing and mix was really good too! Well done as usual brother. :)

Thank you Danny, I appreciate the friendly encouragement...
I can't remember saying I thought anything was silly...
" " My wife said this is a stupid song... I said, I thought it had a clever hook, and a melody that would stick in yer head... what do I know..? " "
Frankly, I don't understand the bias against the use of vocal pitch/time processing... the way I see it... it's just another production decision/tool...  generally speaking, over-processed guitars bother me more than over-processed vocals... but that's just me... I purposely do not listen to much modern pop music, and I know I'm terminally un-hip... I always appreciate your words my friend...

it's great to hear from you James... yes, Dave Sconyers is bada$$... very cool to work with too... I did have some Melodyne fun with the Vox processing... but not on the harmonies... that's just me singing with some very short delay, and a little verb... as for the picture, "I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now"... but "I still, always feel, I'm about to roll down that hill"... I may have to use that last line in a song...
As always, I'm looking forward to hearing your next project...

Yeah... I have to agree.... I like the song but the vocal processing is the only thing that stands out to me as "could be better"..... natural voice with the organic instruments.

The lyrics are not an issue and they are just fine. Nothing profound, just a fun pop song with better instrumentation than most pop songs these days.

The intro is under 13 seconds, nice pre-chorus, and into the chorus before 60 seconds.... nice universal lyrics so... it fits the formula pretty well. For pitching, shorten the solo to a turn around of a few measures and shorten the tag.

My apologies Frank....I just remembered seeing the word silly or something in this thread and was speaking in general. This tune is awesome in my book. I'm a sucker for a hook no matter how serious or non-serious....as long as it hooks me and you did...like you always do. LOL!

Ah the auto-tune thing....well, I'll give you my take for what it's worth. I think that when someone uses it in a dance or techno song, it's acceptable because 8 times out of 10, the instrumentation in material like that is synthetic. So it's actually adding to the whole "theme" in my opinion. When you add the auto-tune thing to rock, country, blues, etc....to me (just my opinion) it just doesn't fit especially when the artist CAN really sing.

For example, I've always liked Cher and even accepted that song she did that had that on it because it fit so well. But rest assured, if she would have done that on "Turn Back Time" I would have hated it completely as to me, it just doesn't fit and literally takes AWAY from the material at hand. If you do crazy music like the kids do today where they mix rock and hip-hop and other hybrids, it's totally acceptable to have a more robotic voice going on. But when you're YOU....the guy that delivers the goods in all areas time and time again while making the rest of us green with envy with your awesome style, it just sort of sends one for a loop. Do it in a dance tune and I promise I won't make a mention of it. LOL!

Processed guitar tones.....guilty as charged here. It's probably due to what I was brought up on. I never much liked 50's to 70's guitar tones. When I heard the guitar tones of the 80's, I loved them so much I stopped playing drums and picked up a guitar. That's how influential they were for me....enough to make me quit an instrument. No, you're not terminally un-hip....you're entitled to not listen to something that makes you cringe bro. The same as I cringe listening to the older tones. (like Steve Howe of YES for example) The players are fantastic, but their tones to me were like nails on a chalk-board where the tones *I* like are what I call "cats in a meatgrinder" but they have to be controlled. :) Whatever the case, I've always loved your tones, your playing and they always fit the material perfectly. :)

Please, no apologies necessary Danny... I love the fact that some listeners find the lyrics silly, and some don't...   I figured the tuned up vocal would get a rise out of some folks... no one disliked it any more than Dave, the fiddle player...  I just told him the same thing I told alkie... I just appreciate all the positive feedback from you and everyone else...
I totally get what you're saying about guitar tones, vocal-fx, genres, perception, & preferences... and I agree.., but Steve Howe's guitar tone, Squire's treble pick-Bass and the Singer's weird/unique voice is exactly why I loved "Yes"... (at first, until I grew totaly sick of the same ol' sound) Thank heaven for all our differences...
Thanks again Danny for the good ears, compliments and articulation...  I love your "cats in a meatgrinder" sound btw...  with your heart, head & hands always in control...
