Sad news indeed. Just saw this. Great guy. Had dinner with him and shared some tunes. Vaya con dios amigo.

I haven't looked in for a long time this is a shocker to read.
 
His conduct on this forum was always gently well-natured and fun.  I just knew I'd have been fond of him had I met him in person too.

He was my best friend when I worked at Unisys and for many years after!  I knew he was having issues with cancer and had hoped he would beat it.  I lost my mom to the same cancer in 2012 and he was there for me, even though he was going through his own struggle with it.  I have been searching for several months for any information I could find on him and today was the first day I could find anything.  The last time we talked, he sounded in such good spirits but, after e-mailing him several times and not getting an answer, I started to worry.  Now I know I had good reason to.  I miss him immensely and always will and I am sorry I did not get the chance to say good-bye to this amazing, wonderful man! 

This place was definitely better with his presence.

Sorry for your loss. He was well liked around here and his untimely departure saddened the community.

my condolences, Vicky and I'm sorry you had to find out this way.  Jan was well liked and respected here and missed very much, now.  I didn't get to meet Jan in person, but we tried to get together when I was in San Diego a few months back, but he didn't feel good during our visit and we never got the chance to connect.
