I can't get a handle on this program. The buzz around the new release has been huge so I D/L'd the demo of version 6 to check it out. I can get 6 and then a free upgrade to 7.

I tried the demo and was really underwhelmed. I have Nectar 2 and I love it, but Ozone didn't seem to do much more. Since it's a complicated prg. I used presets to see how they might change things. Many of the presets I tried made no noticeable difference to the sound of the track, while the Nectar presets seemed to have more effect.

So I'm not sure if Ozone is over rated, or if I have really bad ears. What's the deal with Ozone?

O6 is ok...it's ADVANCED that you want...that's where the mojo is....

OK, if advanced is the real deal then I'll have to pass @ $500.

Because you already own Nectar, you qualify for the loyalty upgrade - Advanced, Alloy, Insight, Trash all for $209.

From JRRShop:

The Loyalty Upgrade is for anyone who owns one of the following: Alloy, Ozone Advanced, Nectar, RX, or Trash

Yes, Ozone is a BCP (Big Complicated Program). To get a handle on it, start with just the limiter module (Maximizer) alone. Don't bother with presets. Choose IRC3 (Intelligent Release Control type 3). Set the ceiling to -0.3 or whatever you usually use, check the "true peak limiting" option. Adjust the Character slider according to the style of music: Fast for aggressive rock, Smooth for pop and country, Transparent for ballads, classical and jazz. Now simply lower the threshold until you reach your desired loudness. No limiter is quicker or easier to achieve good results with.

Next, enable the exciter module. Set the crossover points at 120, 1.5K and 6KHz (these are just my own preferences). Bring up band 3 first, just until your midrange gets crisp, then push band 4 a little higher than that while listening to cymbal hits and acoustic guitar sparkle. Finally, raise band 1 to about half the amount of band 3 and listen to kick and bass thicken up.

These two modules will give you an idea of why Ozone's so well-regarded.

That is very good value for money. It makes me wonder what is going on at Izotope to be honest. There is so much crossover between their products and with computers so powerful now, and melodyne lite free with several daws it's probably just as good to buy ozone advanced (where you can load components separately) and be done with it. I don't think they are selling much software so they are trying to get some new customers by almost giving it away.

I dunno, We started back in March, and I gravitated naturally to their products and the way they work. Compared to IK, they are the complete opposite in how to "take care of" loyal users.
