I've been re mixing the last few days trying to improve my songs. I uploaded these two for comparison if you have the time. I don't have my room treated as yet so I would appreciate your ears and opinions on whether these are getting better or worse. Thanks as always!

I like the extra high end on the guitars in the new version of both songs, but now the drums seem too bright to me (again, in both songs).  Just my $0.02!

Also, I like both songs quite a bit.  Well written songs plus great guitar work and solid rhythm tracks, plus excellent mixing equals awesome. :)

Edit: by the way, I like the new ones better, but would still suggest toning down the EQ on the drums a bit.

I listened to all four of the tracks, and in each case I preferred the remixes.  One thing that stands out to me about your recordings is that they sound like they were recorded to tape more than many submissions here.  You manage to get that analog sound that so many strive for.  Your performances are truly terrific.  Take it from there.

I listened to 1987 both versions. I noticed the bass was in a better place on the original at least on this laptop.

The drums don't seem to fit in the same space as the guit. (The guit is very wet and the drums dry.)
I would think a more thrashy live kind of kit sound would fit better.

2 cents

I liked the remix better on the first one.On the second song I was unable to load the remix version. You did a good job of opening up the mix. It sounds like you added verb and maybe some panning? Great chops on both songs.
It looks as if your efforts have paid off.

Heck, I like all 4of them, but the remixes are a bit cleaner. I love the chunky, crunchy wha wha sound you are getting in the first song and a cleaner sound in the second song. They all sound good and seem to have a good analog sound to them. The drums seem best in the original versions and guitars sound best in the remix version. 2 cents Now you decide!!

Peace and Blessings, John

Thanks everyone! Sounds like an easy fix. Old drums new everything else.

I've been recording and mixing in my living room recently.  Hasn't been as bad as one may think.  Just my .02 there.

I've been out of town, and this is the first chance I've had to listen...
The drums sounds better to me on the remixed 1st song, but the lead is too wet and a little loud... I liked the second tune, but the remixed vers would not play for me... again the lead is a little wet & loud for my taste... excellent performances all...

Thanks for the input notnat. I don't know what is up with Soundcloud lately. I've been having problems listening to others as well.
