So I haven't really looked into this, apologies if it's obvious, but a cursory reading of some of the blurb about how this new Amplitube 4 is the best sounding ever and how amp and cabinet modeling has been improved etc....does this "new and improved" modeling apply to all of their existing amps and cabs, i.e. are all my Fender and Orange purchases going to sound better, or the same?

I don't see how "exisiting" collections could sound better...while they will be "importable" to A4, I don't
think that they will get "improved" unless they redo everything, and I don't see that happening.  I would
be curious to know it the Mesa Collection already has the A4 "sound quality" built in, seeing as that it was
released only a few weeks before A4 was announced....and since all the reviews have raved about it's
sound....

I think this all depends: If they are using the package as AT3 and just importing them into AT4 or doing it like Addictive drums did and creating new versions. Judging by the cabinet room the collections will need some enhancements just to accommodate the new look, spaces. micing, etc.

Depends on the implementation BD...they may only offer just the
original mic positions, and not the "full" 3D...won't know till the boat
sales...but I don't think the sounds will be upgraded...but it would be
nice if they were!!!

I was thinking that maybe the amp and cab modeling shares common code that has been improved in the update.

this is my problem with Amp 4 at this stage.

Amp 3 and Amp 4 will be spate products and install side by side.  they are different plugins not a replacement.

existing tracks using amp 3 will not be affected by installation of amp 4.

all amp 3 will be able to be restored to Amp 4 using the restore my gear function so all purchases will be available in amp 4.

none of the existing amp 3 gear will be improved upon amp 4 release - it's not included in amp 4 either.

amp 3 gear restored into amp 4 will sound different.  Peter IK has already said that, not bad, just different cause of the new cab room mix thingy in amp 4.

So your getting no upgraded old gear for amp 4, only Marshall clone sims in amp 4 nothing else and your old existing gear will sound different but ya won't know if good or bad or if a lot of tweaking will be needed etc.

but you can pay $99 right now in a preorder sale and take your chances.

LOL.  sorry that's just insane.  At least with amp 3 and the customshp you can demo the gear ya want and see if it's to your liking.  maybe later on once amp 4 is out and the amp 4 customshop is out then ya can try and compare do a/b testing etc.

why would you pay for an unknown iffy product upgrade like this.  I'll wait til December of January when the 1st sale comes and the smoke and dust has settled.

this so far just makes me laugh a lot, quite humorous.

I figure that my odd's are WAY better that this will be a good and usable product, like every other IK plug-in that I have purchase, than the odds I would have spending the same money in Vegas.  I guess it depends on whether or not $99 is a huge risk for you.

I'm sure within a few months, you will be able to Demo the product, but the price will have increased.  I am spending my money on a calculated guess that it will be as good as the other Ampitube amp sims that I have purchased over the years.

The newer the sims that Amplitube has put out, the better I think they sound.  Orange, Fender, Mesa Boogie have all sounded and worked great for me.  I still use the Marshall JCM800 a ton.  I am hoping that the new Marshall's sound outstanding.

Think I might check Scuffham out instead.

S-Gear is awesome.  So far, upgrades have been free since I bought it over 4 years and 2 amps ago.  S-Gear and A3 run neck and neck for me.

If you REALLY want great tone, tweakability, and the coolest UI I've ever seen,
Bias Desktop and Bias FX are really nice...but pricey...for the Pro versions
they are $179 each...standard versions are now $79 each...

There is great value with S-Gear and Amplitube. They are both very good IMHO. Once I get A4 installed and click restore my gear, I'm deleting A3.
