I have lots of presets with missing pieces for effects/amps/cabs that I don't own. I avoid them by only selecting presets in the collections that I do own in the dropdown menus and browser. I would vote for a feature request to only show pertinent presets and gear but I'm sure it has a lot to do with marketing.

I too cannot use many of the misc. presets. I am not finding much if any difference in sound between A3 & A4 when switching from one to the other on things I already own. There also does not seem to be a lot of new content. Overall not impressed.   Dan

OK...got it DLed, authorized and ran through the new additions.  Programmed up a couple of new amp/fx stacks too.

First impression is very good. Love the new speaker selector, amp room and mixer.  Haven't fooled with the looper or recorder yet.  I honestly think it sounds better...hyper realistic?...what the heck does that even mean?  But better.  Seems stable so far.

BUT...

If that new "acoustic simulator" plug is supposed to do something it wasn't happening for me.  I twiddled every slider and knob and not much change at all to my strat.  Is there a "trick" to it??

Also, when I went to name my new amp stacks...I couldn't...at least not what I wanted to, as letters like A and P and others wouldn't type...EVEN AFTER CLICKING ON THE "GIVE ALL KEYSTROKES TO THE PLUGIN" THINGY.  Is there a workaround for this?

Still needs a better gate.  A much better gate.  Which leads me to a blanket criticism of most all amp sims.  If our new technology is so all fired hot then why can't they make high gain amps and settings WITHOUT the hiss and hum and squeal??  It's like all the comp and eq and console emus that have a knob to "add back" the hiss of the original unit.  Those of us who are old enough to have worked with the hardware fought every single day to get rid of it.  At least with those you can turn it off.  But not these amp sims.

Anywhoo...so far so good.  Kudos IK!

My IKM account has both the Amplitude CS(v4.) and the Amplitude 4; they have two different serial numbers, but when I download both of them, they are the same download.  Which serial number do I use?  The one for the new v4 Amplitude CS or the Amplitude 4?

Sorry to be a little slow on which is which.

This was my conclusion also Dan.  Is it better?  Minorly.  But not really impressed either.
Yes, the new Speaker Room, and 3D mics, and speaker selection, etc are very welcome
additions, but even when moving the mics there is not "a lot" of adjustment and not "a lot"
of difference overall, as there would be with a "real" mic in front of a speaker cabinet...
so overall I don't find a "wow" factor of improvement.  But it is what it is...
IK has always been a "Hype"...er....

Another thing is that the promo makes it sound like you get all the new speaker options.  You don't.  There are several that are greyed out and require additional purchase.

Yeah, found the same thing. Greyed out presets and choices, but it's my guess a business gimmick to get into your credit card further down the road if you want to "upgrade". Not fond of this model. Would rather have what I paid for there without the voided ads.

This aside, except for slapping too much reverb on some of the presets, Amp 4 is quite good. Hyper realism (?). Can't find it no more worthy than what S-Gear already delivers. Admit I have to dig deeper to maybe realize what the hype is all about. Just have not found it yet.

Installation and authorization was fast and without flaw. Presets and pieces from Amp 3 were automatically picked, which was one of my first concerns. The guys do allow a liberal 10 authorizations before you have to beg.

The unit does sound nice. Have only to realize what magic bullet separates it from Amp 3 or several other worthy contenders out there.

Wish only there was a retro 32 bit version.

This is a big disappointment!!!  I had no interest in the new "marshall" type amps, but what got me to purchase A4 was then new speaker cab config and the switching of these speakers.  No, and just now after purchase, we find out that you have to purchase the extra speakers to have this work.  Again, this is a big disappointment.

Just a first impression, but I am not happy, and certainly not excited about this purchase. {btw--I did get A4 installed and authorized, and restored all my gear}

How does one restore  all their gear?

I see the import legacy tab, just don't know yet where to find the folder.
