The more I play with Amplitube 4, the more I like it.
It's still not "OMG" but it is better then 3...and I guess
that does mean something...the improved interface and the better setup options
(mic, cab, speaker, room) are nice, as is the new tuner.
The addition of the DAW was a waste, especially for those
of us (the overwhelming vast majority) that already use
a DAW.  That effort should have been towards more content.

Anyways...it is what it is...and it's here...like it or not...

I think sometimes we tend to forget that EVERYONE's needs are different! It has never been a matter of this product being better than that product. It will always be about finding the tool that satisfies YOUR needs and then trying to get as much knowledge as possible how to use that tool.
Something else that is critical that hardly anyone thinks about is that no two people have the same hearing perception! Everyones ears are PHYSICALLY shaped different just like fingerprints, or so I was told. For this reason someones perception of what sounds great may not sound the same to the person standing next to you. I lean more towards more melodic playing than shredding. My needs are met better by a product that doesn't always fall in to full blown sheets of distortion. Though, to satisfy my clients I may need that sound from time to time. I think sometimes we forget that it's about versatility for a lot of us guitarist.
We use what we must in studio work to get the finished results. Whatever works for one may not work for the other. Find what works for you and stick with it but we shouldn't just dismiss other tools that may very well be better for some situations than others. If one tool works for everything you do, GREAT! I find myself using many diverse combinations of amp sims and like the differences between them.
I'll shut up now. I can see the shark fins circling around me. Just an observation, fellas!

Hello Mr. Sidroe, it is interesting that rational thought in a morass of divergent opinions can lead to a barrage of epithets from either side.

I agree. The daw I'll never use, the looper I'll never use. This update was all about the cabs, mics and rooms. I'm still not hearing a huge difference from A3, but I do like A4. The gui is a nice change. It's worth the $69 I paid. I'm not going to spend any time comparing the two. I'm just moving forward with A4 and looking forward to whatever Mike Scuffham does next. I would like to give Bias another shot some time, but my spending decisions going forward are going to be very frugal. Many programs I use will need to start adding something for me to earn my money.

I'm planning on giving the looper a try as part of my practice routine. I've been watching Greg's Guitars of late on YouTube and he just riffs over little loops he's built. Looks simple...and fun.

Welcome, Jesse! I see you have just joined us here. Glad to see a new member. You will find in time that one must use caution in most any forum when it comes to expressing an opinion. Some posts spark great conversations while the simplest attempt at humor can ignite a firestorm of opinions. There is never a dull moment here for sure! I still feel that the forums here are absolutely some of the best people and info you can find to aid you in most any problems you may have concerning digital recording in general. Welcome!

Ditto Sid.
Clint    I spent a bunch over the past 4 years (after a long dark 5 year gap)and seem to calmed down quite a bit! LOL
It finally hit me that I probably have much more than I will get around to using. I seem to get "good" at one thing that pleases me and keep refining that.  I do love it when I see/hear something that's very cool and I already own it! LOL
The older I get the more that arrangements are the target and the better those get, the less sweetening they need or rather... a little seems to go a lot further.

I should've added it's way more fun and satisfying, too! LOL

Not that I don't have a lot of fun with all these plug ins. I haven't really even explored reamping yet, but that's coming very soon. Hopefully in the next 10 days my contractor will be making my breezeway a year round tracking room. I can hardly wait!
