BUMP....
So, I'm getting ready here to load up the pickup truck with Lilly's crate, food, towels, leashes, toys, and blankets as well as my clothes, gear, and boots. We're headed off to lower South Carolina around the Bluffton area which is close to a 5 hr ride. With stops and breaks, it will be closer, I'm thinking, to 6 hrs.
We have a weekend of team training on the schedule. She gets a chance to work, searching out HR sources hidden on the 90 acres of the farm we're training on. The USMC air base canceled on us yesterday morning so our team members in that area scrambled and found an alternate and suitable location that was amiable to allowing us to use their land.
Yeah.. even though our team is based in eastern central NC... about 20 miles from where I live, we have team members from SC, NC, VA and even one lady who drives down every month from NJ to join us and train with us. Our team leader has a reputation in the SAR world that is apparently, pretty impressive, for training the best dogs and handler teams for this kind of work. He tries to book training at least once a year "locally" for all the members who are not local to us here in NC. It's a fun thing to go out to train in other places. It gives the dogs some variety that's more like real world vs doing the same farm in Wendell all the time.
Keep voting and bumping this post. I leave it in capable and trustworthy hands..... see you all next week. I'll be voting from my phone while I'm gone.
