I should be grateful really. But how pathetic are Facebook? Their criteria for banning someone seems to be nothing more than "someone flagged a comment of yours." I often read news stories on Facebook and sometimes comment on them. Someone left a particularly dumb comment under a story so I replied to them along the lines of "That's a really dumb comment." No abuse, no threats, no bad words or hate or any of the usual reasons that someone would flag a comment as offensive.

Next thing I know, I try to log into Facebook and it blocked me with a message that my "dumb" comment breached Facebook's community standards and that I have a 3 day ban. Most likely because the person I replied to got offended, flagged my post, and some half braindead "moderator" at Facebook drowsily clicked the ban button for the millionth time that day.

How annoying. I'm going to take my rage out on Twitter. Hope they don't ban me too!

When I was a lad we took banning seriously. None of this wimpy 3 day nonsense. Political correctness gone mad I tell you.

My daughter had a pic of herself with her new bike removed the other day, because someone had reported it as 'containing nudity'. There are some sad get-a-lifes out there.

That wouldn't have happened in Portland (where they have a yearly nude bicycle race through downtown).

Sharke,

Some of my FB friends post/like obnoxious, extreme (and/or partisan) political rants and they are never banned. What particular political beliefs a person has doesn't matter much to me, and there are plenty of places on the web where you can literally go and talk politics 24/7.  I guess these people are trying to show me how enlightened, caring, and involved they are. But they are boorishly inconsiderate as far as I am concerned. I try hard not to take the bait.

Cheers,

That is SO true James. Where did this "right to not be offended" come from? I saw a story this morning about well, this: http://www.thecollegefix.com/post/24847/

I am truly astounded by things like this. I truly DO NOT get it. I'm not just saying that, I really don't get it. Why? There is not right to not be offended. I'm sure that EVERYTHING is offensive to someone somewhere. Perhaps everyone should just stay home all the time and live virtual lives. OH wait! I forgot about the OP... LOL.

FB is a real waste of time. I go there now and then and it is the same old bunch of propaganda and BS... and I find myself spending too much time there when I sign in. It is usually to look at something I got in an email, then I stay too long. I have "unfollowed" so many organizations and people that there isn't that much there anymore, but at least it is now more posts from people I actually know and not so much political crap, that stuff gets old in a hurry because no matter what "side: it is, it is always half truths. I hate that.
Sharke, it's a gift horse.

+1 Bert. I have a few FB friends that I've had to 'unfollow' because of constant political soapboxing. I don't want to see it.

To be honest I'm only on there to keep up with old friends across the pond and follow a few sites of interest. Otherwise I hate social media culture - the selfies, the attention whoring, the "viral" outrage over stories which turn out to have been faked by some idiot seeking to draw attention to their pet issue.
