Oh, and what I call "FB" would definitely be a violation of the forum's TOS.

I pre-empted Facebook by banning Facebook. I do not have an account. Apparently that means I am unable to see all the crap that FB members think is important, can't log onto spam sites without creating a new account, can't "like" the spammers and marketers that I dislike, and will have to miss missing Sharke posting judgemental comments about other Facebook posters stupid comments that I will not miss missing either. But don't get me wrong, it is not technology or the Facebook application that I dislike. Even before there was an internet, I did not post Polaroids of myself doing inane or boring things on public bulletin boards in laundromats, or go through my neighbors' garbage looking for tidbits of their lives. I confine myself to seeding this forum with unsolicited opinions that no one else is interested in either.

The sad part is that, in the meantime, many people including yours truly have flagged pages and groups that were advocating systematic rape or making treats on certain groups and persons and promoting hatred - to no avail.

Receiving that e-mail notification saying that the fine fellows at FB have come to the conclusion that there was nothing wrong w/ a page encouraging something as unequivocally wrong as sexual abuse always comes as a slap in the face, especially when reports of people like you being banned for nothing are not entirely uncommon.

If they really want to help, they should implement a "verify that crap" function every time someone hits the "share" button on an article saying that you can cure cancer with lemon or that Pope Francis will be opening for Ghost in Italy...

Personally, I try to keep my Facebook very light-hearted most of the time. AdBlock took care of the trending non-sense. I unfollow people who tend to post stuff that get my blood pressure up. My newsfeed is mostly filled with cats, music gear and music-realted stuff.

That is, unless every one including companies go on a bender about Back to the Future or something...

Yep. You can't say the word "bag."

Hi,

I really hope that one of these days, one of these companies will "ban" the wrong person and the feedback, and lashback will be so big as to totally destroy 80% of the company and its cash cow business.

Until we see that one day, these companies will continue taking advantage of the situations ... and in fact, I would say this was one of the bigger reasons why Everquest killed itself way back when ... suspending people and going after the programmers that were creating tools to help players ... and the end result? They all went to World of Warcraft that is still alive!

Facebook? ... glad I don't bother!

My daughter had a pic of herself with her new bike removed the other day, because someone had reported it as 'containing nudity'. There are some sad get-a-lifes out there.

Would it be crass to ask you to post the pic?
