Wookiee
As noted very cinematic with that Sword and Sorcery mystic vibe.

Perhaps as a standalone piece a bridge and some other ear candy would be more engaging, but what do I know.

Nice piece, mix sounds well hear.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks bapu for your kind comments and for listening.

I'm trying to identify what you mean by "sizzle trail".  I do have another instrument fading in and out throughout the piece.  Is this the sound that you're not liking?

As for the percussive hits being out of sync, you're right.  It's intentionally a bit loose rhythmically, and was not quantized, particularly the hand drum parts.  Do you think it's "too loose"?

And thanks to you as well Wookiee!  I was definitely going for a "mystical", "magical" feeling.

Nope it's that instrument (kyoto maybe) that plays by itself in the first four seconds. I am listening thru earbuds (albeit high end Altec earbuds) so that could be the problem.

Just my opinion, but yeah.... too loose.

That's Dimension Pro's "Sitar and Tambouras" patch, with some moderately heavy reverb.  Sitars always tend to have those droning resonant overtones, and I guess the reverb is accentuating them.

Nice soundtrack quality, and you leave plenty of room for it all to breathe.   Sounds good.

Neptune has oceans, but the surface is 50 degrees above "absolute zero..." So not a comfortable environment :-)

I like your synth music. My only critt/nit would be the drums/percussion needs some more variation. This is great music (from what people tell me) to listen to stoned... i.e., Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk, etc...

whack
I love those accidental flat keys giving that persian vibe.

This is cinematic for sure and ideal for that purpose. The beat didnt seem out of sync to me up front. The sitar was a good choice.

If used for cinema soundscape its probably fine, for listening pleasure solo it needs a climax at some stage and just a tad too long overall.

Good work could sell this for something.

Thanks for your kind comments about the music.  You're probably right about the percussion needing more variation.  I should look into that and see if I can make it more interesting and less mechanical in a future revision.

As far as Neptune's temperature goes, it's much hotter there than you would think!  The oceans are down closer to the solid core of Neptune, and it gets to such high pressures there that the temperature reaches 5000K and there are thought to be oceans made of liquid diamond.  I was fascinated reading about them:
