It's not often I buy DVD's but how can I not jump on this. Roxy and Elsewhere was one of the greatest live albums of all time IMO, Zappa and the Mothers at their absolute best, absolutely joyous performances, instrumental virtuosity, superbly arranged music and a beautiful sound. To see it in glorious technicolor is a dream come true for me, from what I can see in the trailer it looks absolutely pristine and an absolute hoot. Can't wait.

Hi,

This has been in the works for almost 10 years, and in the past 5, the Zappa board has been unreal in demanding this.

The main issues, appear to be that all the sound was not in sync with any of the visuals and this made things very tricky. That means, they have to pull the music apart and then sync one item ... oooppps, that part can't be right, and keep adjusting things until they get it reasonably right so only audio experts could see the difference and the problems with it.

The album, yes, is magnificent, and in my book FZ at his best ... and should help establish FZ as a master musician in the American landscape of music, that is not interested in musicians, only stars. He deserves this, and in my book, this is Gail's gift to us all before part'ing from us. She fought tooth and nail and put up with so much poop about this, it isn't funny, but she would not give up on the quality she wanted ... and she will win in the end. She stood up for what was right, and not sloppy!

It should be the album of the year. and pull off awards left and right.

I notice in the trailer, they have drums panned hard left and hard right, weird but it kind of works...I can't remember if Roxy And Elsewhere was mixed this way. I always liked the sound of Zappa's early 70's albums like One Size Fits All and Overnite Sensation - very warm and his guitar tone was at its absolute best.

And "Apostrophe" also fits in that mold. And it has Jack Bruce in it if I remember correctly.

I never studied the sound in the CD, and will take a listen but considering how the movie/video had some serious sync issues, I suppose that we're going to find things separated, so they can be sync'd somehow, someway, to the rest of the thing ... and supposedly, this is the part that is insane, and well done, and took so long to do, and do it right.

I still think that this was Gail's gift to the fans ... who have been screaming for this for over 30 years ... but she knew what we all didn't ... the sync/sound was screwed up royal in the tapes ... and it required some serious work to get done. She was going to say good bye to us all with a nice Christmas present. And I think she did not only well, but ... even stood with her man all the way to the end, and understood his desire to "do it right!".

Sometimes we don't see that, but in this case, it looks like it was done right.

Big Zappa fan, and the audio sounds remarkably good given the film's vintage.

I never forgave him for 200 Motels. He still owes me 4 bucks for that stinker. Perhaps this movie will atone for that one.

Yeah 200 Motels wasn't his finest moment.

Looks like it'll be a long wait before we get to see it in the UK.

I have all of FZ's official releases and not a week goes by without me playing something from his vast catalogue.

Mid to late 70's he was absolutely prolific and assembled some of the finest musicians around at the time.

I was fortunate enough to see him live on his final world tour, before it (the tour) all ended in disarray.
