I'm in the market for a new delay/echo VST and would like to hear your recommendations.
What I already have:
Bootsie NastyDLA - This is my workhorse delay. Unfortunately it's 32 bit but it's good in most other regards.
BT Oilcan Echo - no tempo sync, no useful documentation.
BT Tempo Delay - has tempo sync but not much in the way of
character or other settings.
NI Replika - has saturation and does okay on guitars, but is a bit sparse in terms of other settings.
What I'd like to see is some or all of this:
- 64 bit architecture
- Stereo capability with cross-feedback, ping-pong, etc
- Complex timing possibilities (eg. multi-tap, random delay times, etc)
- Tonal 'character' (eg. saturation, phaser, chorus, whatever)
- High pass/low pass on the wet signal
- Tempo sync
Soundtoys Echoboy looks like a good contender, although it is fairly pricey. What else would people recommend, if anything?
