Resonant Order
Anyone care to post repeatable bugs that exist in 8.5?

I have a few tracks to finish, and I'd like to avoid the land mines. Also, this may be the last host I use for a while, so I'm thinking of making a website database of information for those of us that stuck with 8.5.3.

Thanks in advance.

1) The clip fade bug. You draw a clip fade and another, separate clip gets faded along its whole length. Not sure of the cause, the proximity of the clips seems go have something to do with it. You can avoid it for sure by first selecting the clip you want to fade. 2) There are bugs with freezing and unfreezing a virtual instrument. If I remember rightly, clips disappeared when the instrument was unfrozen. I think Bouncing to Clips first prevented the problem. 3) Stretch Audio. I'm the only one who's ever had this one but I can repeat it reliably (8.5.3). I select the clip, set the stretch or shrink parameters, press OK - and the clip disappears. Undo - and it comes back. I can get around this one by Bouncing to Clips first, (even if it's already bounced) then it doesn't disappear after the operation. rev

I don't know if it's a bug or common problem but I run into it repeatedly...
When I have a good size project all tracked and open it to start editing ie.  changing clip fade times, slip editing, automation, panning etc.  I find if I don't save the file and erase undo history every half hour or so I can crash the damn thing quickly an lose all edits since my last save.  Drives me freakin' CRAZY!!

That list would be found on an internal file server at Cakewalk, never to be made public.

Granted, we know about many - perhaps most - of the bugs from forum discussions and the  "known problems" section of the X1 readme.rtf. But bugs that have been reported by users and not discussed here are officially privileged communications between the reporter and the company. If you've ever received a problem report acknowledgment from CW you'll have seen the standard email footer that expressly forbids you from discussing any emails or passing them on.
It's not that there's some nefarious conspiracy afoot. The company simply reserves the right to decide which bugs to fix and when. It is therefore understandably reluctant to discuss requested fixes that have been blown off or postponed.

In all probability the best you'll be able to do is come up with a list compiled by some diligent user, but it will be incomplete.

Chuck: What happens when it 'crashes' - freezes? not responding? rev

The first few times the song was always playin at the time of crash & I got vertical lines that moved from left to right and stacked up about 3/4 way across the screen in the mixer view, sonar would continue to play the song until end and wouldn't respond to any commands.  Even when the song finishes.   completely locked.
Recently it tells me there was an error and asks should sonar attempt to create a dump file to save my work?   which never works btw....

You mean you'd otherwise work over 30 minutes without saving? The "guys I know" press Ctrl+S about every three to five minutes. The undo history in DAW work can be quite a chunk of data, just as in video editing. Not knowing your PC specs I can't form a picture of the situation (don't know if I could anyways :o)).

I agree, I made a song called ....  "Save Regularly".  Think about the work flow.  Let Sonar take care of the bugs; make music.  If you have problems, document them carefully and then have this wonderful community help you.  Believe me, there are a lot of heavies here to help.  Jam-On Dude!

Just finish your project and dont even think about it.

Its not ransid with bugs that you cannot complete a song. When i was on 8.5.3, nothing hindered my progress
