Sometimes you just have to pull all the faders down and start again.

Better much better but when I look at it through SPAN there seems to be a general roll off down from 800Hz then the bottom end rolls off real steep at about 60 to 80Hz.  Which confirms for me that whilst there is a lovely slap to the kick, which is very present when I turned down to compose this, there is still no weight from the kick sits in that 70Hz region.

Sorry my friend it is good and it is better but to my furry ears it is not quite a Carling.

(Though I suspect you may be either an IPA or a Newky Brown man)

By 'eck them furry ears are well tuned mate

I just checked my drum bus and there's a High Pass on there, instead of the EQ curve that was loaded with the Pro Channel preset I started out with - I must have been buggering around at some stage and forget to switch it back after

Anyway, after I turned it off, I checked out the results in Span, and you were absolutely spot on Wook - I've now got a peak back at around 70Hz (this is taken off the master bus with the kick soloed):

Err is there something missing in this mix or do I need to adjust the vocal filters on my furry ears.

PS the Kick has some nice weight now

I like it.
Drums and bass could be louder, but that may be because I can't hear well.

Definitely much better. Good job.

Your singer sounds much better, and has some punch now, which fits the song IMO.

Sounds good Steve. I listened at a low volume. It all cuts through real nice.
I still don't understand why it's gotta be so loud though. I think it's way louder than any commercial release. Which, actually in this day and age is quite the accomplishment. Which leads to,,,,,,,, How'd you do that? Hire Bapu?
And, BTW, you sound just like Bapu. Is this in Am?

Sorry I'm a bit late with these...

Many thanks to Mark, Bob S, and to my old pals Greg and Bob O for all your kind words and helpful comments!

And extra thanks to Robby for the great advice on the vocals, and to my furry friend Wookiee for the indispensable help on the EQ

Thanks Tim!

To be honest, I'm not sure why it's that loud.

With the FX Bin in my master bus switched off, I was just getting the occasional peak hitting 0dB. The only effects I have in there are a little multiband compression (Sonitus Multiband - Vintage Soft Master setting), a touch of stereo expansion (BX Shredspread - set at 110%), and some brick wall limiting (PSP Vintage Warmer 2 - Mix Finalise 3 setting) as the last plug in the chain.

Here's the master bus with everything turned on, as you can see, there's plenty of room in there for it to breathe:

LOL! That's not me Tim, it's my old mate Sid Strummer. You'd know if it was me singing, believe me

Funny thing is, Ed gave me some tips on processing his vocals, and he actually said he sounded a bit like him!

Some of you guys have good ears
