60's had some great inventive stuff...
i think modern music ended up more 'boxed in' than the stuff back then,
where everybody was trying to find something different,
instead of sounding similar
i don't think it was the bands faults, but mostly the managing and A&R folks.....

I think the vocals and guitar work make the tune. The harmonies are good. The finger work is fast and on cue. The loops are catchy and the web you wove around it all makes a fine end result.

thanks for listening to this one....
the vocals actually came first, so the entire creation of the backing track supports the vocal....
which makes the vocals a lot easier!
LOL
i went thru many versions of the vocals, to get to a point where the attitude was correct.
it is supposed to feel very ambiguous.....

I think you nailed the ambiguous feeling. The long holdouts on vocals with guitar movement underneath gives it kind of a meditative feel. I would have never guessed that you came up with the vocals first. As always I can tell you spend time on detail and it shows.

Nice Jane's Addiction vibe!!

This.  Totally reminds me of Jane's Addiction.  The guitar leads are bold and yet solid in the pocket.  The vocals (dark harmonies and layering) are top notch.  All performed parts are totally pro work.  Production is jaw droppingly awesome.  Great track!!  I had to listen to it twice. :)

whack
I like it.

awesome groove, bass tone is excellent and interwoven so well to keep interest. Has a real "jungle" feel to it and you could easily punch up the beat, simplify the guitars and add a very present hip hop type voice to go that route. But this is your style bat, shorten em up a little though :-)

thanks man, i appreciate that!
i was a big pat travers fan back in the late 70's, and my band at the time did quite a few covers.
hooked on music, heat in the street, were two of my favorites

starise
that's good, that it's not obvious that the vocals came first...
the idea is always to make that stuff seem seemless, but it's a hard order to fill.
