...NI is coming out with Kontakt6 soon...

Pfft. Yet another forced upgrade.

Within a few months of K6's release, all new NI-registered third-party libraries will require it. Even if they don't use any of the new features. Library developers should be provided with the option to save files that are compatible with previous versions.

Sheesh, even whatever-you-bought-yesterday-is-obsolete Microsoft does that!

Yea that sucks!  I never upgrade Kontakt unless there is something that I want in the new format.  I ran Kontakt 4 for a long time before I upgraded to 5.  I will do the same when 6 comes out.

NI is coming out with Kontakt6 soon, at least according to their site.

Where did you read about Kontakt 6? I can't seem to find any news at all on it.

I ran Kontakt 2 for a long time but eventually was coerced into buying K3.

I ran Kontakt 3 for a long time but eventually was strong armed into buying K4.

I ran Kontakt 4 for years but eventually had no choice but to buy K5.

I've been enjoying K5. I'm sure it will be my last Kontakt version forever.

I started with Kontakt 5, so I've never had to upgrade to a newer version. What's generally the price to upgrade for owners of the most current previous version (Ex: What did it cost to upgrade from Kontakt 4 to 5?)?

$79 IIRC, on sale. $99 normally.

In the Kontakt thread of the NI forums.  Here is the initial message:

For those who haven't found it yet, KVR just posted a great interview with NI's chiefs Daniel Haver and Mate Galic, here (http://www.kvraudio.com/i...and-mate-galic-31301).

In the course of it, they're asked about the future of Kontakt, and I figured their response would be of interest to all those who gather here:

Q: What is the future of Kontakt? There is a huge base of developers making libraries for it.

A: I can say that there's a major update on the horizon. I cannot mention any dates or features, but what I can tell you is that we started this year to host two annual Kontakt developer conferences, held in Los Angeles and Berlin. We invited all major partners in the Kontakt domain and revealed our roadmap to them so that they can start to envision the new features that will be available to help them create even better and more exciting products. So we've invested a ton, both in the Kontakt engine and in the Kontakt product, and are now very excited to see what amazing instruments our partners will come up with.
