Hi all.

I don't know if it's me or whether or not this is something we are unable to do in the new PRV.

Under the old system, it was easy to use a drum map for keyswitches to enable different articulations when writing orchestral pieces.
The map would live happily above the actual note pane and both were visible at the same time

Now, it seems I can only view either the drum map or the note pane making it impossible to know where to insert a new artic

Click the note pane, the drum map blanks out
Click the drum map, the note pane blanks out

Has anyone else come across this and found a workaround, or is there a setting which needs to be enabled?

Thanks in advance

Have you tried dragging the you'd-never-know-it-was-there divider up from the bottom of the window? It works for me (2017.07). If the cursor does not turn into the "divider cursor" as you hover near the bottom of the drum map pane (and probably the top if you have the notes pane displayed) hover in different spots near the top or bottom. Hopefully you'll find the sweet spot and then can drag to divide the PRV into both views split.

This is bothering me too, it completely brakes my workflow so I can't update to versions with new PRV until this is fixed.
Basically, the content of Drum Map pane in the new PRV should be visible when other track is active - like before - but  for some reason it isn't. Everything disappears, percussion notes or keyswitches in the Drum Pane are not visible at the same time when other track is selected, even though both tracks are set to be visible. It must be a bug, I don't see why this would be by design.

Bakers, please fix this soon.

Thanks for your input, but I know about splitting the screen to show the drum map & note pane simultaneously.

As I said, you still cannot view both sets of notes at the same time.

Seems like this is confirmed by askic.

Anyone else care to chip in?

EIDT: Sorry, I am wrong in what I said below.  Guess I was testing things too quickly or something ...  I apologize.  This post can probably be deleted, as well as my post above.

I just checked, and I can see both at once.  Could it be a matter of proper track pane setup?  Try selecting different combinations of the track number (with the pencil icon) and track name.  I can get it to behave the way I think yours is (the note and drum panes appear visible, but if I have the wrong combination of selections, the drum map names on the left (and notes) disappear).

Actually I tried all combinations (highlighted pencils & track names) with a simple MIDI "note track", and a "keyswitch" track, and there is one combination where I would have expected the drum map to remain populated, where it didn't.  So, perhaps there is a little funkiness of some sort going on.  But, I still can get it to display both drum pane with keyswitches and notes pane at the same time, and am able to enter notes in either just adjusting what's highlighted in the track pane.  All while having the notes in both show on screen.

Well I'm glad it does seem to be possible.

I'll have another play with it this evening and report back.

Thanks.

Hey Jonesey, I hope you saw I edited my previous post to basically say what had I stated were "alternative facts" (heh-heh).  To summarize, here's what I can and can't do, in reality facts:

1) Display both keyswitch "notes", and musical notes at once - CAN
2) Edit/Draw keyswitch/percussion "notes" in the drum pane while musical notes are displayed (but hollow) - CAN
3) Edit/Draw musical notes while seeing keyswitches/drum map notes - CANNOT

In a way, #3 is not that horrible for, me at least, as I usually sequence the musical notes in first, and then go back to add the keyswitches (which I can currently do with the musical notes visible).  If the drum map is being used for actual percussion, you'd probably have that done (at least a basic track) first, which presents the huge problem of not being able to see the percussion notes for reference when entering music.

No, you're right.

#1 & #2 are perfectly workable for me as, like yourself, I only add/edit keyswitches in relation to existing notes
#3 won't be an issue

Not home yet but I'm working on it

Well I've played around with this today and the best scenario I can come up with is to have the Drum Map visible and providing me with the ability to add & edit artics, whilst showing the Note pane displaying Ghosted Notes below.

As soon as I click on the note pane, the drum map disappears.
