Well, I actually I have one but it's tucked away in a closet somewhere. I guess I'd have to find another one, identical, because my brain seems to require a certain kind of symmetry for most things. At any rate, I prefer candles. Plus, they smell so good. I'm thinking of finding an incense burner to alternate scents a bit.
But I think that, besides some additional sound treatment and, later on, replacing the carpet with a hardwood floor and maybe a fine turkish type of rug, I'm done setting the mood and creating an inspiring environment - for me anyway.
For a while recently I toyed with the idea of painting everything black. But black paint has a way to make things look cheap-ish if you're not careful with it...
Besides the Marshall stack which I've planned on getting for live gigs, the only thing missing is an acoustic and/or a nylon string guitar (I've been meaning to get back to classical guitar for a while now). I mean, I could get better monitors, but the Mackies are okay, and for my purpose (writing and demoing) more than sufficient.
The white Les Paul studio seems to be THE guitar I've been dreaming of for years, and and with coil-splitting, it's actually very versatile. The Epiphone Thunderbird is everything I want in a bass. So that settles that. And, even though there are far better and more expensive solutions for DI recording, the POD HD300 is more than enough for me.
So I seem to have reached a point where I don't envy other people's setup, and all the fancy gear. My own minimalist setup is very representative of me and how I work. It's MINE. The only thing I envy from other studios I visit is acoustics. And I'll work on improving just that in here, though I have no illusion that the potential of this room is fairly limited. But that's just that.
As it is, my wife is scheduled for hip surgery at the end of the month, and we'll be working on new music together in here for the next few months, while she recuperates. We have a producer really pushing for us to release some material, which is nice. Obviously, once we're ready, we have access to a proper studio with nice recording rooms, for drums and guitars and all.
And we also have a couple of band projects, which should keep us busy enough.
I've always been an addict of those studio pics threads, so, you guys feel free to throw in a couple of pics of your workspace - I always feel it reveals some aspects of people which you might not know otherwise, and it's just a nice excuse to drool over gear and stuff. :P
