Well, that's some pretty awesome gear!

Thanks

No monitors though... Just not practical at the moment...

It's a very fine environment for that too, I must say.

It does indeed look very "cultured," if you know what I mean

I've just had to google "The Classic Midrash," so I am now a little bit wiser than before

I'm obsessed with religious scriptures and all that's related, even if I am an atheist. I actually collect bibles and religious books of all kinds. Religion and philosophy have always been my biggest interest, besides music. Maybe being brought up by my overly Catholic grand-mother, living right in front of the cemetery and next to the church and the funeral home has left sort of a mark and a fascination for religious symbolism and thought. That stuff has always remained dear to me, even after I gave up on spirituality.

You should read some John Owen. Good stuff but a slow read.
You have a nice looking set up there. One thing... before you get the Marshall Stack do yourself a favor and check out the Mesa Boogie Mark V 25 watt head with a 2x12 cab. You can get almost any classic rock or clean sound out of it and it's a DEAL. You probably wont even need any pedals with it, though a Rangemaster or a good compressor pedal might be useful. I had not idea about the Mark series until I got one. You MUST read the manual though because every channel is WAY different. Some you have to keep the bass below 9:00, others you can push it up but once you get used to it, it is awesome... Then again a Germino or a Marshall is nice too. I hear lots of good things about the JVM heads from people who play live. I like what I've heard of the V/M too.
Good luck. I hope you get exactly what you're wanting.

Nice studio... I agree about the wood floor. I have carpet and once set up, I'll probably pull it all out and put in a wood floor too.

The thing is, with almost every Marshall I've played, I was able to get my tone almost instantly. It's more a case of what it doesn't do than all it can do. It puts me in that specific ballpark by default.

I'll not be able to buy my dream amp - which is a certain JCM 800 that belongs to a friend of ours. That amp is my absolute favorite amp I've ever had the pleasure to play. It is IT.

But I know from experience that even a Marshall DSL will work for me. I'm not overly anal about sound - I do have friends who like to make a fuss about fretboard wood and every little detail. Me I'm happy with "a" Les Paul and "a" Marshall.

Is there a pentagram on the floor too?

Great idea! :P

The Marshall through a matching 4x12 cab is a classic combination. Although I prefer an open back 2x12, there's something about the 4x12 that gives you a gut punch it's hard to find elsewhere. I owned 2 vintage 100 watt superlead's that I had to keep in check most of the time. When I did get them out to a location where they could be turned up it was really something. I would just freak out. Sort of like releasing the flying monkey's. Fly! rage, be free!

There are certain tones that can only be realized with massive power and volume.

Rain,

I'm surprised that you not spotted this yet.  Serious GAS!

Yup - they look awesome, don't they?

But I'll opt for the standard DSL line, head + 4x12. No matter if I'm playing Norwegian Death Metal from Hell or classic 80's hard rock or one of those KISS gigs, aesthetically, this one work with just about everything. Like a black shirt, really.

Well, I never said anything about gear for live performance... I already know that I might some kind of super strat w/ a big tremolo for a certain project, and maybe a couple of pedals. :P
